Factory and Mec-Gar magazines average 2 failures to extract per mag. The spent case remains in the chamber, the new round gets fed into it, locking up the gun. Occasionally a Mec-Gar mag will feed and function all 10 rounds, but that's an exception, not the rule. The extractor seems to be tensioned too much, which is counter intuitive to the problem I'm experiencing. After much online research I'm left with replacing the recoil spring with a 14lb. or 15lb. aftermarket spring, buying a better extractor and tuning it properly to run, buying Wilson magazines or sending it back to Tisas (which several people have indicated took more than one trip to get it right). What says the hive? |

At least have someone knowledgeable in the technique examine and adjust your EXTRACTOR or replace and tune a new one if indicated. I think it's too tight. I can place a loaded round under the extractor and it will still hold it in place with pretty vigorous shaking. This test is usually done with an empty case, not a loaded round. |

More than one thread has talked about weak springs in Tisas. I would suggest installing a new brand name recoil and plunger spring. Might as well add an extractor to your order. Wollf and Wilson Combat keep my fleet of 1911's running. |

Get a Wilson Combat bullet proof extractor and tune that one if it needs it - it will stay adjusted. I have used 3 as is from the package and they all worked. Might just be luck. |

Purchased a Jack Wiegand extractor tension gage and tensioning tool. As it came from Tisas it had nearly zero extractor tension, just the opposite of what my initial findings suggested. I have tweaked the extractor and will report back after a range trip in a day or two. |
