I’ve had a nickel 3rd gen 357 magnum 5.5” Colt SAA for years. I’ve never shot it. Still in the custom shop box. It’s very “pretty”. Nickel with fire blue accents. I’ve got the original plastic grips along with some very nice wood custom shop grips. I got into it for a decent price at the time. For some reason single action revolvers just don’t speak to me. I even picked up a 5.5” Super Blackhawk last year to maybe “break me in” a little and I just find the process of shooting it tedious. The loading and unloading is clunky. I love shooting SA/DA revolvers though. I’ve got a new 3 inch stainless Python and I like it. I’m seriously thinking of turning the SAA into a 4” blued Python. Am I crazy? |

Every time you buy of sell a new or used gun at a dealer he by definition is making money off you . Not to bust on dealers but they have to keep the lights on. Generally I advise folks to "never sell a gun" but it is your choice. I own many double action revolvers and a handful of single actions. mostly the only guns going to the range are the doubles , I have to be in just the right frame of mind to put up with the slow loading/unloading deal. |

Sell what you don’t use or care about, and get out to the range with something you will use and care about. I’ve sold off some dead weight to upgrade other things, and have yet to regret the fun times I’ve had shooting the results. |

My stance is "don't sell guns", but I've got 4 (now grown) children that all shoot so everything has somebody's name on it when I tip over. But outside of that, the only reasons IMO to keep a gun are: 1) Sentimental ie it was Dad's or Grandad's etc. 2) You have a useful need for what it can do. 3) You enjoy shooting it. 4) You consider it a dollar sign investment ie I've got $400 in it and it's worth $3200 now and is reliably climbing. So, you've never shot it, you have no desire to shoot it. Might as well pass it on to someone who will love shooting it and get something that you will enjoy shooting. I have zero guns that don't get shot, kids are very helpful there, ya just never know what odd gun one of them will become attached to  The kicker is, as you stroll thu life your interests might change, mine certainly have. So I revert to my "don't sell guns" stance. To some (many) people guns are a hobby and they come and go. Around here we tend to get attached to wildly different bullet launchers

For the time being I’m going to hold on to it. I probably will shoot it. I will pull it out of the safe and get some nice daytime pictures of it tomorrow. I’ve got a floral carved DM Bullard cross draw holster for it as well. (I’m picking up a CZ Shadow 2 so that’ll keep me distracted for a while…..) |
