I was searching for new images of M45A1 still in the service. All I can found are images (as late as February 2021) of the old Cerakote pistols. Only spotted one image from 2019 with IonBond finish. This led me to believe that Marines canned the M45A1 program right after they tested/approved IonBond coating. Interestingly they still choose not upgrading to IonBond and keep those well-worn Cerakoted pistols in active duty. From my inside man at PWS says the future is all m17. Except for shooting team stuff. He says the MOS is dying a quick death. Recon as far as I can tell are the only ones using m45a1’s and I’m under the impression they aren’t going to get replaced with 1911s but probably with m17s A recon marine came into his thread a year or two ago and spoke of their colts as “shot out” back then. I can only assume that the m45 days have been numbered for a long time. Not to be a Debbie downer just sharing my second hand info. |

So the Civilian Marksmanship Program is in the process of legalizing the sale of surplus Army 1911s to the public, we need to find a way to make sure these pistols find their way into this program and not allow Marine DRMO send them off to be melted down. As you can see on all the in the Wild pics the finish wear is pretty extreme. 1000s of draws out of a safariland holster will do that to any gun. Plus colts were never known for their tightness. |

Once rebuilt as National Match target pistol (Springfield Arsenal rebuilt, NM mark on the trigger guard & 2 T marks around A1 finger cutout), and at one point went to USAF Marksmanship Gunsmith Shop (AFPG marking). Front strap checkering was in typical Army National Match pistol fashion. The stipples around the checkering appears to be done by Air Force Marksmanship shop. |

Appears to be variant 2 MEUSOC pistol with classic Safariland 3004 holster. According to KCs Kustom, that's right around the year variant 3 just came out. US Marine Corps (USMC) Reconnaissance Marine Corporal (CPL) Michael J. Anyone have pictures of a MEUSOC with a magwell? I have a Springfield LB Operator, and I'm considering these Pachmayr grips, but was really thinking of keeping a magwell, mainly looking at Stan Chen or S&A. I know that is not MEUSOC pure, but it's a very valid enhancement. |

I haven’t seen one on an m45 Also other than your Pach grips nothing else about your setup is meusoc so 1911 Discussion would be a better place for your question as a whole to get the answers you seek. Aside from clone shit. I had a magwell and Pach’s on a Colt and while it was functional it was also hideous because the Grips didn’t match up to the magwell at all. Personal opinion I have magwells on everything, I have Pach’s only on my meusoc clone, magwells are great, Pach’s are not. |

Springfield hammers were used one some guns. If you do switch, I would buy a full kit from Cylinder & Slide. Just my opinion. |

| Reserve 0321 here. At least as of last month, we still had the M45 CQBP's in our arms room. Current scuttlebutt is that they will be going away soon in favor of the M17. Also, having read through the forum, I have never encountered one of the Ion bonded CQBP's, all of ours are the desert tan cerekote. |

| Just got word today that the M45's are getting boxed up. On a side note, if anyone hears about where these are going for auction, I and several other Recondo's would jump at the chance to own the pistol we deployed with. I already sent an email to the CMP to see if they were going to be getting them or not. |
