@wtfboombrb I gather they’re AFP, but I couldn’t tell you anything more specific. I added the caption and the article to the photo post, that might give you a better idea. I had also stumbled upon a photo where the students had rock islands and the instructors had tan colts. |

And here we are. Build by the senior civilian PWS technician at Quantico - former 2112 who wrote the POI for instruction and built these when this was the mark coming thru PWS 20 years ago. It is numbered on the slide, barrel, and safeties in the usual places, but obscured because Google is evil. Kart NM barrel and EGW NM bushing was my choice as the barrels shoot great and respond to melonite extremely well, which is the next step. Barrel is ramped/throated for JHP. Had I to do it over again, I would have just got a Kart or Bar-Sto EZ fit, as it makes it easier on the pistol smith. Sweet pistol, wonderful trigger, I am happy and can't wait to shoot it. (My other 1911 was built by a former USAMTU smith. The pistols have similar triggers but with distinct personalities. This trigger is so good that I chuckled when I dry fired it.)    |

Anybody happen to have a photo (or remember seeing a photo in this thread), where an M45 has a king’s safety stamped with the last four digits on the outside of the ambi? I’ve seen a lot of guns with the Mil-Spec slides in this configuration but none of the loaded slide models seem to be stamped externally. I know the Ed brown safeties were stamped from the inside. Thanks in advance. P.S. I’m not a huge Kimber guy, but you all have posted some nice ones. |

Gents I finally got some trigger time today. Went to the range to help my ffl test some stuff and snuck my meusoc in there. Didn’t get a ton of pictures because I was handling a bunch of guns and different calibers. But dang Gina! I probably shot 10 different kinds of ammo through the m45. Even went 5 for 5 @ 100y with a SWC load. Zero issues what so ever. I can’t say enough good things about Valor Precision. I wouldn’t have thought this $400 clapped out base gun would have ever been worth a shit but I keep getting impressed.

Most of the ones I’ve seen for sale came with black grips and the owners bought magwell VZ’s for them. This practice could have changed with time. Maybe tan ones got ordered later, maybe the end users bought their own. I’m planning to get my barrel “NDT” and “P” stamped. Also in talks with gunsmith about deleting the slide markings and engraving. We’ll see how it goes. I won’t have my Kimber in hands until the middle of September so I got time to think about it.
