Local shop has a Taurus 441, 3" barrel blued with old pachmayr's on it. Not that I have been looking for a 44 special revolver very hard but it did catch my eye. The trigger seemed decent, and the cylinder locks up about as well as my Model 10 or 15-2. Biggest question to me, are they decently strong? Could it handle Skeeter loads, or do I need to keep to my standard by the books data? I don't really need it. I've been eyeing either uberty/taylors/ect 1873 clone in 45C or 44 spl, or going full monty for a blackhawk in 357 or 45C. |
| I had its fixed sighted 3” brother, the 431 back in the mid 90s. I loaded it and my 3” Bulldog with a hard cast 240gr SWC at 950 fps under Unique. That’s about what Skeeters load was. Sold the 431 after a year or so as bit chunky compared to my Smith 64/65s 3” RB and Bulldog. Still have that Bulldog |

And night will leave a 44s in the dust. Its the same realm price wise as a used blackhawk's or '73 repros. There is a local shop that has a taylors '73 for 450 and another that has a 357 blackhawk for 450. I don't care about the power. I have a 14" 44 mag contender I hunt with. If i want power i grab that |
