Any of you that have mounted an optic on the TX22 TORO, what thread pitch screws did you use? Interwebs tell me the holes are tapped 6-32 and the included cover plate screws on mine are in fact 6-32...read on.

When I removed the optic cover plate,I noticed the screws were not tight, meh who cares. The same 6-32 cover plate screws fit my optic mounting holes and looked long enough so I'll just reuse them. Not so fast... the threads felt loose, like sloppy loose for several threads worth of engagement, odd. Torque them to 10 inch lb or should I say tried too...they just spun past snug

At first I thought I stripped the holes but damn, I've mounted dozens of optics and never stripped a screw or hole. Pulled the screws and optic. Ran the included by taurus optic cover plate screws in by hand, sloppy and loose as if they were the wrong thread pitch or dia! So I grabbed some different #6-32 screws, same. Looking at the slide threads, none looked pulled or missing...in fact the threads looked perfect...

Then I grabbed an M4 screw, fits like a glove got the optic mounted and torqued to 15 inch lb using my M4 screws.

I'm not sure if my slide was an opps and tapped M4 instead of #6 32 or if the holes are supposed to be M4 to begin with and the interwebs is wrong and who ever installed my optic plate just grabbed the wrong screws...

Hmmm....

I had a very similar (nearly identical) experience, and just thought I needed longer screws. Because I couldn't find my box of spare screws at the time, I haven't installed the RDS and have just been shooting it with irons.

I'm following, so I can hopefully avoid damaging my pistol.

Yeah, I'm confused and why I asked. Taurus dosen't specify the correct screw size or at least I can't find it...
Search tells me they're 6-32 and the cover plate screws that were installed on mine are 6-32...

But, my slide is no doubt tapped for M4 screws...

I'm back... as I found this thread while Googling the question. I tried the ones that held the cover on. I tried the ones that came with the sight. They seemed to fit, but would back out with very little use.

I found my spare multi pack of screws and had yet another issue. It seems like they're good with 6-32 screws, but the sight wiggled loose on the first magazine (even with threadlocker). My kit didn't have any other sizes that fit.

I'm leaving the hardware store right now with some M4 screws. I'll report back if this does the trick.

TX 22 toro. I have a couple comp models as well and and used the 6-48 holes to mount each Holosun 507c. The toro model is supposed to be 6-32  from what search tells me...mine is in fact tapped M4. although, the person at taurus that installed my optic cover plate must have had the same understanding as the screws holding it loosely in place were in fact 6-32.....

I had issues with the 6-32 screws coming out, my Viridian RFX15 went flying at the range.

Good news, thanks to this thread, I tried some M4 x 0.7 screws that came with my Vortex Defender CCW and it's perfect.  Thanks OP!

Also, more proof that I'm not a hoarder and never throwing anything away is awesome.

I'm still not sure what thread pitch the slide is supposed to be...I called Taurus and was told 6-32 but the person I spoke with didn't seem confident in this answer
would seem at least 3 slides have had either the slide tapped incorrectly for M4 or 6-32 screws mistakenly installed in M4 holes..

I looked at the manual and it does indeed call for m4. I direct mounted a HOLOSUN EPS Carry with the provided screws to my Gen2 TORO and now unknowingly think I crammed 6-32 screws into the holes mistaking any resistance I felt to the blue locktite. Am I screwed? Did I just ruin my new gun??????

You didn't cram the screws in 6-32 measures a tad over 3.5mm dia. The thread pitch is different but both are somewhat fine and close enough with the reduced diameter of 6-32 won't damage the M4 threaded hole. I'll have to revisit my manual, I did not see the optic screw spec

Leave it alone or source M4 screws. Seems like a dumb question but I’m almost inclined to leave it alone. What says the hive?

Well damn,I must have skipped the page that listed the optic screw spec when I thumbed thru the manual looking for the screw spec...but, it's right there in black and white. Mystery solved, someone is grabbing the wrong screws or hell maybe a robot installs the plate and screws and the bot is being loaded with the incorrect 6-32 screws at times...

The 6-32 screws will not hold. I know the EPS comes with several sets of screws, I dont recall if any are M4 though.

I ordered some M4 screws and will update when I get home in a couple of days. Pretty sure the screws that ship with the EPS are 6-32.

Every EPS carry I installed needed the included 6-32 screws. According to the manual, the EPS carry comes with 6-32, M3 and M4 screws...

Even if the industry could standardize footprints, they would never standardize screw sizes.

Here's something I found weird: it's as though the holes are tapered, like an NPT thread. The screws feel a bit loose for the first few threads, but tighten up after going in further. Maybe that's because the threads were wallowed out near the top due to my first few attempts(?)

I did get the M4 screws (10mm long) to hold, and I put about hundred rounds through it with no loosening or movement. One range trip isn't enough to declare victory, but it's looking good. I wanted to confirm by shooting it some more, but I've been sick and haven't felt like going to the range.

I found a forum post where someone said they had to use 9mm long screws, because longer ones interfered with something inside the slide. I now can't find that post, no matter how hard I google. I had a couple of weird malfunctions, so I might hunt down some 9mm screws if it continues, but the only ones I found at the hardware store were the 10mm ones.

The holes are tapped thru the slide. If your screws are to long they will impact the plastic striker housing. Verify your screws aren't to long by removing the back plate and striker assembly. You can clearly see the end of both holes with the striker housing removed.

With so many optic choices and each having slightly different thicknesses and or mounting surfaces for the screws what works for me may be 1mm to long or short for your optic setup...
