Bumping this one as I have an interest in the Canik. Striker (Canik) vs. Hammer. I have never heard anything bad about Canik, and always hear good (great) things about the Shadow. Being a collaboration with Taran Tactical, it the 'Pit Viper' for the poors. Polymer vs Metal Striker vs. Hammer Lightish vs Heavy Better all around gun vs more geared toward competition Canik a bit less $$ What's your use for this pistol? |

I picked up both at the Fun Store yesterday. Shadow is heavy, solid, metal frame. It's tight with good tolerances, I shot it and was putting 2-3 shots touching. The Canik is lighter, looser, but I'm not gonna say loose and rattily. They both felt good in the hand and pointed naturally. If I recall the Canik has aggressive texturing, fills the hand slightly more whereas the CZ grips seem more slim and not as aggressive. I did not shoot the Canik but would guess the compensator offsets the heavy, forward weight bias of the Canik. The Slide on the Canik had some play, the CZ very little, when I got home I got out to compare my Ruger 1911 and it has almost zero play. While there I also shot the DWX, it's a VERY quality piece, great trigger, fills the hand nicely, not as front heavy as the Shadow. I shot it the same as the Shadow. The Shadow had the DOA trigger, DA was longish, but not overly heavy, not stacking and not gritty. There was a very small 'catch' from the disconnector, in SA mode it was short and light, it seemed lighter than the DWX, but maybe it was just more of a rolling break. Little to no slide play. |
