I have an older Gen 1 T/C Contender with a 30-30 barrel and a .221 Fireball barrel. I've had it for years and have no issues. I just picked up a used but looks new Super 14" barrel in .44 Magnum and it's locking up and won't release. I had to disassemble the trigger housing and depress the locking lugs and fiddle wit it to get the barrel off. I reassembled the pistol and same issue... for some reason the locking and unlocking with this barrel isn't working. Anyone know what I need to do to address this issue? Who works on these things now days? THANKS |

Some "newer" Gen2 or 3 barrels may not go right onto the Gen frame without fitting. Read more HERE I had this issue on a .45 Colt barrel I picked up years ago and wanted to use on my 1990 era frame. I do not remember exactly what I did, I know there was some fitting on the .45 barrel's locking lugs involved. |

These are pics of the .44 Mag barrel, 1-piece locking lug, looks exactly like my other barrels. Do you see anything out of order? Pretty sure my frame is mid-late 80's as are my other barrels.

I think I'll file down the existing 1-piece to see if I can make it work, but in the meantime, I can shoot the .44 Mag and I know what the issue was. Thanks. |
