MachineCraft Replicas sent me a pre-production sample of their version: I also just ordered one of the Major Kongs, if for no other reason than to support some of these small niche replica items. The MR07 like the earlier Classic Weapon lights are not the "greatest" solution from a functional standpoint for reasons that have already been stated, but they were a solution to a pretty significant operational capabilities gap where there weren't a lot of other options available, and they do represent an interesting snap-shot into the transitional period before railed frame pistols were as widely available / issued, and germane to my professional interests, the history and development of modern night-fighting. The bigger problem for me is that I don't own that many non-railed 1911s (I only have one other besides the one pictured), so between these and the replica weld-on rails I've been making, I'm going to need to build / buy a lot more non-railed 1911s... so I can put rails on them.  ~Augee |
