All of Sigs failures(including military), not just the 320.  Interesting reading.

There's an AR15.com link right out of the gate about the P365.
Pretty crazy stuff.
I'm going to read up on this.
Thanks for the post.

Yeah, back in the 90s if you wanted a reliable "service pistol" or "compact pistol" you basically had your choice of Beretta, Glock, H&K, or SIG.  S&W was probably number 5, but they had a much worse reputation than the pistols actually deserved and there were some S&W 3rd Gen duds.  Everything else was either straight out bad, or wasn't reliably good enough to buy and just know it was going to run.  How SIG has fallen since.

I think a lot of the pre Indian MIM 22x series guns will actually get a bit collectable/desirable in a few years. I don't really know what the year break will be though, pre ~2016?

Yeah, looks like if wanting to carry 9mm and a Sig, it will have to be the P226.

Only SOME of them are defective.

If you take yours apart, and examine the parts under a microscope, you can tell whether yours is OK.

If you know what to look for.

Everyone should be OK with that.

I'm not sure about the link but the P365 has a well-known issue with trigger spring breakages which disable the pistol.

Doing a quick search seems to indicate an issue with earlier pistols.

Agreed.  And while I believe there is a lot of truth in that document, some areas lack a lot of context.  Poorly executed to the point of being misleading, especially in the beginning with the P365 and no dates.  Nonetheless, shame on Sig for so many issues in gen 1 P365 when it launched in 2018.  But pretty damn solid after that.  And to their credit, lifetime warranty, so if you have an old Gen 1 with a striker issue, or whatever, it should come back to you quickly with new parts. Hearing good things about that.

Can't speak to all the P320 drama, but for context it launched in 2014 and supposedly 4 million in the US.

I guess it in fact did not end that day ??

I had two P365’s of mine wear the inside of the grip modules somewhere a little over 500 rounds each enough that the trigger bar would constantly slip off the sear rendering the gun inoperable until it was disassembled and put back on and it would do it again in a few rounds. That’s the point that I totally gave up on them and Sig as a whole. I’ve had more issues with Sig guns than anything else. I’ve had some sort of issue with nearly every one of them I’ve owned, everything from total failure to things just not working the way they should.

Yup.

The 365 has been a huge disappointment. Broken firing pins, broken firing pin springs, broken trigger return springs, broken trigger bars and of course the self ejecting mag release buttons.

Agreed.  In the event of proof of a P320 discharging sitting alone loaded in a safe, SIG would blame telekinetic activity or ghosts. They are NOT taking any responsibility.

This was a broken spring after 7500 rounds. I wouldn’t call that a defect. I probably have over 1000 rounds on my 365 XL and no problems. That’s just one person, but it’s my experience. I’ve definitely heard MUCH more about the 320 than the 365. Enough that I wouldn’t get a 320, but I’m comfortable with the 365.

But it’s enough of an issue that the instructor just happens to have them on hand “because these break so much”. That’s just one facility and one instructor.

Two of mine had total failures just over 500 rounds each that rendered them inoperable. I felt comfortable with mine until that happened too.

Just because you have 1000 rounds and this guy had 7500 rounds really doesn’t mean anything. The guns are still shit and are pretty much a ticking clock as to when they’ll have a total failure sooner than other pistols seem to experience. I wouldn’t carry a P365 if you gave me the gun, multiple backups to train with and paid me to do it.

They’re so wonderful that I dumped 6 of them and over 70 magazines in 2021 after less than a year of ownership at huge losses to go back to Glocks which are ergonomically uncomfortable to me to get pistols that I actually had confidence wouldn’t fail if I needed them.

Can you change the trigger return spring on a P365 in under 30 seconds? There is a reason he can.

Doing a little searching, it seems most of the 365 problems were from the 1st generation when they first came out. Next generation made some changes. Updated striker and changed the size of the trigger return spring. Apparently, that fixed most of the problems. Don’t hear of many problems with the newer pistols.

Considering the multiple generations of MCX/MPX, I really don't see why they just don't do a gen 2 or 3 version of the 320, and just stop supporting the current generation like they have done in the past and pretend like it didn't happen.  They don't have to admit wrongdoing, simply market it as a product improvement to be more competitive to other domestic striker fired pistols.

Meanwhile if I broke a Glock part in less than 10k I'm surprised.

I'm done with Sig as a company, I dumped both my P365 variants and am going to sell my Sig lights. Anything with their name on it I no longer trust.

There are also effectively multiple generations of P320s and P365s. Actually addmitting that with two more weapons platforms, their entire modern line, woulld be admitting to systematic incompetence. It's a pattern with Sig at this point to anyone who willing to see it.

Amen.

There will always be SIG haters and they will continue to drink the Kool-Aid about anything that is negative towards SIG. I have been a SIG owner for 20 years. I have just over 60 SIG pistols, nearly a third of them are P320s, and I have no issue with them whatsoever. I do not buy any firearm that is not going to be dependable. My SIGs have always treated me well. It is too bad that others have such discontent towards them. That is all well and good as it saves those SIG from going to bad homes and ill-treatment.

It sounds like you're invested enough in the brand that it has become part of your identity.

If you have almost 20 P320s how much mileage are you actually putting on them? A review consisting of "I shot 100 trouble free rounds" really doesn't mean anything. It's the daily wear and tear that's exposing flaws and the P320 is a flawed design. The P365 has QC issues. A new P226 isn't the same as the pistol that built the brand.

It’s a valid question that apparently hit a sensitive area. That’s a lot of pistols to declare trouble free and even at only 5k each that’s 100k rounds. If they’re unfired of course they haven’t malfunctioned. If you don’t see how that’s relevant I don’t know what to tell you.

If you’re Battlefield Vegas and put thousands of rounds down them that’s going to carry more weight than someone that put two magazines through them and declared them good to go.

I will say this. All of my SIGs go bang when I want them too, including the P320s. There have been no malfunctions to date. They are accurate and dependable. I can say the same for my Glocks and Berettas of which I have many. Enough said.
