Am I the only one who is giving up on Streamlight for this? They chose to use a coin slot instead of an actual driver. That might be convenient for dudes who collect purses instead of tools, but after a few hundred rounds they tighten themselves up and getting them with a penny is a joke. On their newer light it looks like it’s going to be even worse. It has even less inset than before. I really wonder what the heck they’re thinking. Attached File |

I've never experienced self tightening either. A nickel works and isnt hard to keep one in the range bag or wherever you need one. If you need replacement parts, Streamlight will send them to you for free. Or buy them from here https://www.flashlightdealer.com/parts-list.aspx |

| Dude, it's a YOU problem. Most likely, you're tightening them up too much and hogging the slot out ( hmmm kinky eh ). Get it snug, don't turn it until it feels like a metal to metal contact. There's a rubber seal in there and what you're doing is crushing the seal. Just turn it until if feel snug. You'll have some resistance if you start to loosen it. But, yeah, if you're hogging out the slot, you're way overdoing it. |

| Has anyone tested the new TLR vs the old TLR for holster fitment? My old TLRs are starting the lose seal on the battery door as the retention plate is plastic and pulls away from the door over time. The new model atleast screws down the activation plate and batteries come out the front. |

I swapped it into my Safariland duty holster, as well as a leather belt holster that I use for plainclothes… fits both the original and HLX. But ultimately going to depend on the holster. |
| Yeah the HLX. I was seeing side by side comparisons where the HLX was wider than the TLR. Wanting to switch to the new model to do away with the flip down battery door of the TLR. Figure my Safarilands should work but my GCodes may not as they are tighter fit on the light. |

| Don't over tighten and use a small dab of clear silicone grease on the threads. Aluminum on the same type of aluminum galls and this is what strips out the slot. Hell, I use a dab of it on just my regular lights with aluminum threads. Amazing what a difference it makes. |

| I've been using Streamlights with that coin design bolt since the early 2000s, never an issue. I use a coin, and it turns to loosen. I use a coin the other way, and it tightens. Don't gorilla grip tighten them. Turn it until you feel it seat. It will stop and get tight. It won't come out or get loose. If you tighten it until you can't tighten it any more, and you hit a hard wall of resistance, you've gone too far. |

If anything, I have the other problem. Every month or so I have to tighten the screw back up. It seems to work it’s way loose just riding around in a holster. I have found that every piece of equipment that works just fine for most people always has one guy that has issues no one else has. For instance, I can’t use HSGI pistol tacos without the mags falling out as soon as I run. Congrats! You’re the guy that has the Streamlight problems. |
