Took me a bit to figure out where that hitch on cocking was coming from though. I really like the Ed Brown ambi...it's small enough where my trigger finger won't accidentally press up on the right paddle, and the rear of it is nicely beveled on both sides. |

@sagillman Who did the port on yours? For any others, I'm waffling between inline ports and a chunk type port. Is one better than the other at controlling muzzle rise or softening recoil (not that recoil is high)? |

The way I figured it, is the most effective muzzle brakes have large ports. I think it’s a trade-off though, because the large ports are louder. |

Most of what I’ve seen from testing shows that ports work better at reducing muzzle climb. They also have an edge over add-on comps for holster options and they generally are more reliable with a wider range of ammo and springs. I have Monsoon Tactical’s Lucky 7’s in my 5” Prodigy. They don’t do a lot because the gun doesn’t move much in the first place. It’s more obvious shooting higher powered ammo. I did my ammo testing between my ported Prodigy and a stock 5” Prodigy. I've had my Prodigy for over a year and love it. No malfunctions. However, my optic plate doesn't like to stay put. I used Loctite 243, torqued the plate down to 25 in lbs and after about 1000 rounds it still comes loose. I got some new screws this week from Springfield and cleaned everything up, I'm hoping this does the trick. What have you guys done to keep the plate tight? |

I'm no holster sniffer but if someone burned down the town garage and threw canned corn at the snow plow guys I'd drop off a case of beer at the DPW. ~Aimless

Make sure the right side/extractor side screw is shorter than the left. The initial runs had screws long enough to contact the extractor and cause ejection issues and the right screw to back out. I lost one early on but haven’t had any issues since shortening the screw. It’s been more than a year and a few thousand rounds. |

Blue now red as I’m not swapping optics. 18-25 inch pounds torqued. 400 rounds of +p ammo and plate to slide was loose. Optic to plate was fine. Waste of ammo. Haven’t shot it since red was put on as this is now regulated to range toy. |

Just joined the club last week. New Prodigy with about 450 rounds through it. No malfunctions that I've seen, but the 1st 200 were the original owner, so I can't speak to those. Attached File |

Does anyone know if you can remove the ambi safety and get a replacement safety that only has the lever on the left (port) side? I will never use the safety on the other side, and 50% of the time when rotating it to fire, it bites the web of my right hand. Is this as simple as taking the stock safety out and replacing it with an Ed Brown 1 sided safety? Or is there more to this since the piece for the other side is now gone? |

There's tons of 2011's with single sided safeties so I'm sure you can do it. Lot of the safety's I see for sale have 1911/2011 in the description. |

Nothing to it, standard 1911 safety. May need some fitting done though, so be prepared for that. |
