I'm considering some double stack 1911's for CCW.  I'm looking for feedback on the 4.25" comped Prodigy.  I really like the idea of that slide/frame with the compact grip.

The optic plate on mine would not stay tight, no matter how much Loctite I put on it. It would shoot loose within 20-30 rounds. I eventually resorted to Loctite and staking the screws. Hasn't come loose in ~200 rounds since. Some folks have said they had issues w/ Cerakote gumming up the rails and causing malfunctions. I have experienced none of this, but I kept it pretty wet with lube. The right-side safety lever would keep walking off, eventually disconnecting and not allowing me to switch it to fire. I tried squeezing the ears together, but it would still walk off. I replaced it with an EGW and have had no issues since.

The Cerakote thing affected mine for 100 rounds, but was fine after that.

My optic plate would not stay on until I used the serious green Loctite on the second application.
Why is the sky blue?
What makes the green grass grow?

I use a few different grades of green at work; I would not want to try and remove those tiny-ass screws with it.

Last go-round, I tried the orange Loctite. Supposedly holds like red but releases like blue.

I have a 4.25 comp. It has surpassed all my expectations. I have put between 500 and 1,000 rds through it with no issues other than the slide won’t lock back. Considering I haven’t cleaned it yet I would say that’s quite impressive. I added oil to the rails one time.  That’s it. Really flat shooting, impressive gun. Planning to keep shooting without cleaning it just to see how far I can push it. Oh…optics plate is still hanging on tight.

Thanks.  I was fondling a few variants today.  I definitely want the compact grip with a 4.25 barrel, comped or not to be determined.

I swapped to the orange permatex after the blue loctite failed twice.
Now it’s 3k rounds later with zero issues. I did “bed” the plate with a couple small drops as well.
