Mine's been a good shooter once I got the ambi slide release sorted out. It was popping up when shooting suppressed. I did solve the issue by bending the tension spring. You can bend it a LOT with no problems. The mag spring has a lot of mechanical advantage. I also unitized the left and right sides so that they had less slop between the two but I don't think that was actually the problem I thought it was. Once the gun broke in after a couple hundred rounds it just started running like a demon when suppressed. Honestly, I think adding tension to the slide stop spring and letting it break in are what did the trick. Unsuppressed it was EXCELLENT from the get go with NO malfunctions unsuppressed. Despite the bore looking like it was rifled by a beaver, it shoots REALLLLY well and does not lead up. Dead reliable with or without a can now. Let me give you a tip on all .22s. It just heads off possible problems that may or may not show up regardless. Here is the tip: when you guy the gun, clean the barrel like it owes you money BEFORE you take it out and shoot it. Don't care if it's a Colt Woodsman or a Ruger Mk III or a SIG 322...clean that bitch like you are teaching it a lesson. It really helps head off leading before it starts. Get some JB Bore paste and some Kroil Both will last you a lifetime of barrel cleaning and polishing. It takes very little of both to give you a head start on bore cleanliness. Once you have the bore done...clean the REST of the gun and oil it in the same fashion. ANYHOW....350 is a good deal. GO FOR IT. I really like mine and I HATE Smith and Wesson with a passion. I used to be a HUGE fan...but they have turned into "profit over product" minded scum just like the rest of American companies. ETA: I have no handgun in my collection that fits my hand like the 22X. It just JUMPS into your hand like you were born with it. |

I shoot one using a Dead Air Mask and Remington Golden Bullet HP's or Mini Mag solid points. An O-Sight Baldr S green laser light is used. The 22X has been extremely reliable and extremely easy to shoot very well. Loaded magazines are difficult to remove, much like a Glock with the original non metal lined magazines. Empty magazines are easy to remove. It would be difficult to accidently drop a full magazine. The 22X has been FAR more trouble free than my TX-22. Gen 2 TX-22 slide is simply too light for suppressed use, slide is too fast for the magazines to feed properly. Because the 22X uses a thread adapter to mount a suppressor, I have to be careful to give the suppressor a twist-on a couple times during shooting each full magazine. Yellow teflon tape, the kind for gas, not water, used when attaching the adapter to the barrel is a good idea. Same thing for every gun that uses an adapter, especially the Kel-Tec P17. It doesn't take a lot of the yellow teflon tape. |
