I've got a gen 1 S&W Shield and wanted to get an red dot for it. I found an optic cut slide, rather than have my original slide milled. I've never done this, but I assume that replacing the slide is like replacing a bolt in a bolt gun and I should have the headspace checked? Am I overthinking this, any issues just taking it out and shooting it? |

the belt and suspenders approach to that is to make sure that the used barrel doesn't bind in the new slide. Is it a already built slide, or are you going to have to move parts over? That's all easy, but the sights can be a PITA without a mover. |

I swapped barrel and recoil spring and never looked back. |
