I’m a 10mm guy. I really wanted to grab an XTen 5” a couple of years ago but heard they were having some magazine issues. Has Sig solved the mag issues? How’s the accuracy? Thanks. |

I have the XTC (3.8 inch) and no issues with magazines but I'm not loading or shooting 220 HC bullets either. If that's your goal you might look elsewhere. I'm shooting 180s and 165s hot loads with no issues. ETA mine has been a laser. No complaints at all. |
If a 147 grn 9mm at 1000 FPS is the hammer of Thor then a 165 grn. 40 at 1200 fps must a lightening bolt from Zeus!

So - I picked up an XTEN 5”. I’ve put a couple hundred rounds through it - a pretty wide range of ammo. Had one FTF the first time out. Since then, it’s run perfectly. It is VERY accurate. The heavy barrel and slide do a great job of taming recoil. I did notice seating the mags requires a little more push than I’m used to. I have also had trouble dropping the slide release on a fully loaded mag. Here are some chrono readings: Sig Sauer 180 gr. FMJ - 1225 fps Magtech 180 gr. FMJ - 1197 fps Buffalo Bore 180 gr. JHP - 1349 fps Underwood 180 gr. FMJ - 1262 fps Underwood 200 gr. XTP - 1244 fps Hornady 180 gr. XTP - 1260 fps Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 180 gr. FMJ - 1214 fps |

The Xten and Xten Comp have the slimest grip for a full 15-round capacity. The beavertail makes it almost a perfect fit in the hand. For me, the slim grip would make it better for woods carry. The slides are a bit heavy, but it really helps with the recoil. Overall weight isn’t bad. The out-of-the-box trigger is good, and accuracy is great. Right now it’s one of my fav pistols. |
