What the heck is this part for? I'm on my 4th 320 build, ordered a thumb safety as I've done for every other one I've built, and instead of getting a manual safety trigger bar in the plastic bag with the safety pieces, I get this roughly C-shaped piece of metal that's obviously supposed to rotate on a pin. See it at Sigs site I've never received this piece before, built 3 other 320s without it, all of which function as per normal. I don't even know what pin it would rotate on. I don't know where it goes in the gun. I pulled up the P320 manual from the Sig website and can't find any mention of this part. I assume this is part of a an unannounced change that got rolled out? What do I do with this thing? |

Since no one ha s replied yet I'll take a stab. I believe that cam plate allows the manual safety to be used with a FCU that does not have the window. Whoever at Sig designed this part was really cooking with gas. Gunsmith wasn't going to square this away within like 3 weeks. I've already done 2 so no problem. After fighting with my safety cut in the FCU, launching the spring, defend, and trigger spring behind my workbench twice and getting a goose egg on my head from hunting for it, I decided to add the plate. Fought with it a while longer, and took the trigger and trigger bar off. With those parts removed, I could rotate the safety down and the detent slipped easily (or easier than previous attempts this day) into the enclosure of the cam plate. Reinstalled the trigger under the safety, and the whole thing works as expected now. Most excellent. |

Not at all. The cam plate is fairly thin, and the nubbin on the safety detent that engages it seems very much smaller than the detents I've received previously for cut FCUS. My 80% FCU was significantly thicker and off the correct dimensions compared to FCUS ice miles in the past, necessitating modification of the frame and the FCU, and the safety didn't hang up on the frame at all. |

I think then these parts must be different than the “old” parts that work with a windowed FCU. I guess whether you had a window or not, you’d still use the plate. I added a safety to one FCU that did not have a window. I bought the aftermarket tool kit with the template that bolts on and guides the rotary tool bits to cut the window. This worked very well. No reason to do that extra work now with the new plate I guess. |
