Looking to pick up my first CZ, looking at these two. Along with a MOS G19, but I already know what I get with that. This will be a carry gun, that is priority number one. Obviously there is a substantial price difference between all three. Is that Shadow really worth the extra $500 or so? I would need to get the slide milled on the P-01 so price difference ends up being a bit smaller but is still there. Local store has both, or had both in stock until last night. |

My two cents……if you want an optics ready pistol……just buy it that way. If that means it’s the Shadow 2 then do it, I have the Blue Shadow 2 and put in a short reach trigger kit. Either way the triggers are very good. Of course about 4 months after I ordered one from the CZ LE program they announce the optics ready one. Son of a bitch! I’d buy a new slide before cutting mine. I tried to buy one out of Canada as you couldn’t buy one here. No dice, they absolutely will not sell over the border. Now I am not going to bother with optics, at least on that gun. CZ drives me nuts with CZ’s choices of offerings. Lots of so close but with dumb choices. Too many different lock works but they’re stuck in a certain gun. Like the 75 Compact. It’s perfect but all steel. Make it in an alloy frame but no, now you’re stuck with the lock work of the PCR. And US support, blows bubbles in green diarrhea. What little support they had they laid off. Frankly I have about seven CZs but am too leary of buying more. Already more than half are obsolete and aren’t supported anymore. That’s all four of the CZ long guns. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

Is there even any option for an optics ready, steel framed compact that has the firing pin block? The Shadow 2 Carry has all that but has an aluminum frame. The P-09 C Nocturne has all that but has a polymer frame. The P-01 Has aluminum frame but no optics ready slide. Does CZ even make any compact versions in a steel frame? I've only got the SP-01 Tactical and the P-09 F Nocturne. I think the only options for optics ready compacts with firing pin blocks are the P-09 C Nocturne and the Shadow 2 Carry. Big price difference between the two. |
| You can buy a P-01 direct from Cajun. Get the slide milled and the pro package. It'll cost a lot and take a while, but it's a spectacular pistol set up like that. They do good Cerakote too if you want to get fancy. It's worth every bit of the $1,500 it costs. |

The last time I bought one it was about a couple hundred off. They have since offloaded the LE discount program through an outside outfit. It’s no longer coming direct from Cz USA to your designated ffl. I ran out of interest on what they’re offering at this time……across all their lines…….pistols, rimfires, and hunting long guns. They just don’t make configurations I want. There is always something they do that fouls the item…..rimfire rifles….ugly stocks, modernistic and strange checkering patterns, the pistols as I already said never the layout I want like a standard safety instead of a decocker. Centerfire rifles they dropped all the good looking ones for odd featured ones…….wooden bolt knobs  yea that won’t get scratched and gouged afield…or pull off or split, no good old school calibers like they used to offer…..just enjoy the 6.5 Greedmoor and the .308 and .223.Frankly once the kids took over and modernized everything they have fouled up the catalog trying to be modern. On top of that their support in the USA is marginal at best. I still like the CZ 75 but there are other options. I am just disappointed in where cZ has gone. I last contacted the CZ LE rep in 2024 and in that email was a link to a list of authorized LE dealers that can get you LE pricing. The link in the email is dead at this time….likely a 2025 list that supersedes it, they had a gun price list they would send you from Cz back under the old program. It was generous but not every cz was available in the program. I think it was production issues more than anything. They didn’t care if it was a gun for work under the old program……..you want a deal on a turkish made sharptail shotgun…..they had it, or rimfire rifles,….on top of nearly the whole line of pistols. I bought a CZ kadet top end for my P07. It was temperamental at first but suddenly started working all the time after two bricks were run through it. |

CZ dropped the LEO/MIL program years ago after people were abusing it. I got an email from one of the guys in the program asking if I was reselling mags since I bought so many over a short period of time. I told him I had several different CZ models and was just stocking up on mags for them. Offered to send him pictures of the mag sleeves full and said it wasn't necessary. I used the program for small parts but could often find the guns cheaper through large distributer sales. |

I love my P-01, and would like to get the slide cut, but I probably won't. If I were starting from scratch and an optic was a must-have, I'd go with the Shadow 2 carry. The amount of money you'll drop into the P-01 (because you'll definitely want to upgrade it) will put you into S2C $ territory anyway. I haven't handled or shot the S2C, but I've heard the decocker version's trigger isn't much better than the stock P-01 (which is still very good) vs the usual Shadow trigger with a safety. |

People sleep on the pcr cause it doesn’t have a rail but not everything has to have a light. |

Mags aren’t so bad but some of the other parts can be maddening to locate once CZ moves on and stops supporting a model. |

For a carry compact I am not really wanting to carry a light. If I make a gun too bulky I won’t carry it. I’d keep a light in my coat pocket. Sometimes a light not on your gun is better anyhow. Depends on the circumstances. That said I have a cheap light on my P07 for a nightstand gun. It’s a good gun, carries well and is accurate. I wish it too had a shorter trigger or at least a short reach kit. Iirc, mine is an Omega so it’ll never get a kit for it. It will never be made. My retirement gift to myself was a 43x which is my chief carry. Minimalist carry gun. The trigger reach is one reason why I am moving on from CZs. Even the short reach kit isn’t much of an improvement for me. |
