I carry AIWB 99% of the time, but I have an occasional need to carry off body. It's not often but I wanted something small and relatively covert with great access. It had to be perfect or I wouldn't use it. I know all of the drawbacks of off-body cary including the fact that to some, it screams CCW. After watching dozens of reviews of various options I settled on a Savior Obscura 3L to try out. The quality of the bag is top notch. It has three levels of access security. I have opted for the most accessible option but it is easily and quickly reconfigured. First the bad news. The holster mounting solution that ships with the bag uses a velcro strap that a standard IWB holster would theoretically attach to. The system sucks and does not allow for a fast and consistent grip when drawing. The good news is that it is easily fixed. I cut the straps off and use a purpose built Eclipse holster with a velcro backing plate. This allows me to comfortably and consistently get a good grip and draw from the bag. I have carried it a few times and trained with it a bunch using my G19.5/HE508T/TLR-7. The 19 fits perfectly in the bag with the Eclipse holster. In this configuration I would rate this a 10/10 for off-body cary. It's on the expensive side when you add the holster but it works.

I did my own testing for a PDW, so I ended up with both the 3L and 5L models. The 5L will fit a Flux P655 Raider with optic and 6.5" barrel. While I normally avoid "off body" carry, there times where it's the best option in a les optimum situation.    ROCK6 |
