This is nothing but a curiosity question. I have one in the 2xxx range. Few hundred through it. Been flawless. I saw where it said it was a Matt blue ?? It’s blued not parked ?? Been a while since I shot it. Now on to the potential extractor problem. I have replacement parts in waiting. But what was the actual problem. Was it one particular thing. What’s been stated was extractor not spec. Seen pics of a couple where the hook broken. Have heard the extractor channel had burrs. Have heard the extractor spring holes not to spec ( diameter to small ? ) Lastly heard extractor channel to deep or to shallow. Can’t remember. Again I’m asking out of curiosity. Was it one thing ….. I love mine. Mines very accurate. I was surprised. Thanks Wardawg |

Mine is a later model than yours. Mine is in the 45xxx range. After the first couple of hundred rounds I got the FTE issue. I replaced it with the C&S aftermarket milled extractor and spring. I inspected the milled channel and there were no burrs or other issues that I could see. The FTE’s persisted and I have since sent it back to SA via their CS which sent me a RMA. They’ve had it a couple of weeks so I have not heard back. In the meantime I did some online checking and read that with heavier bullets, those of 124 grains and heavier, that didn’t have the issue. Regardless, that’s no excuse or cure IMHO as that has not been stated in the owners manual or was told to me when I bought it. As soon as I find anything out, I’ll post it up. |
| I might have 300 through mine. 100% so far. But I do see it normally starts 500 +. I can’t remember if I bought B&H extractor set or CS that you mention. It’s down stairs in my Spare parts department. Lol. I’ll look tomorrow. I take it that you changed out the extractor spring also ??? I’m thinking chipped extractor or spring pressure ? Hang in there. Beautiful pistols. We just want them to run also. Wardawg. |

I shoot nothing but the plain ole standard weight WWB or magtech. Purchased in bulk. Like I said been shooting fine. But the round count is still low. I’ll shoot it this weekend. Wardawg Attached File |

*Update* I just got notified from SA CS my pistol has been fixed and ready to ship via FedEx two day. They’re shipping tomorrow, so I should get it Saturday. They replaced the extractor, extractor pin and extractor spring. They also polished the chamber and test fired it. I kind of wondered if it might have a rough chamber, which would have contributed to the FTE’s I would think. We’ll see. Before I sent it in, I did put the original extractor and spring back in it. They looked okay, but that was with the naked eye. I didn’t want them trying to put it off on any aftermarket parts. ETA: SA received it 12-01-25 and had it repaired on 12-10-25. Great turnaround if indeed it’s fixed. |

*Update to the update* Well, I got the pistol back yesterday from SA. I took it to the range today. Shot it exclusively, at first, with nothing but 115 grain FMJ. The first 3 mags went fine, but on the 4th I had my first FTE. I would average fewer FTE’s than before, about 1 per mag. Not acceptable. The interesting thing is after reading AI about this issue I shot several mags of 124 grain FMJ with no FTE’s at all. This has me wondering if this could be a recoil spring issue, that it is not tuned properly with the OEM spring for lighter than 124 grain rounds. Thoughts? I am notifying SA cs again and probably sending it back, but at this point, this is not acceptable performance IMHO. |

You are being very reasonable-- a 9mm that doesn't cycle 115 gr after at most 500 rounds of break in would be unacceptable to me. |

Thanks for the reassurance, but to sell something that does not function properly, needs to fix it. This pistol design has been around for now going on 90 years, the bugs have long since been worked out. That being said, SA cs has been very reasonable on turnaround, but it should have been fixed the first time if indeed a part is out of spec. |
