I owned a 5” none railed TRP with black armory kote over ten years ago and I absolutely loved that gun. However, being younger with less funds I had to sell it…. I’m looking to acquire a new TRP now and am considering a newly built TRP or finding an older one like I had. Besides the new TRP stamping, or lack there of. Is one better than the other to go with? |

IMO, if you're thinking 45 ACP, I would try and avoid the newer ramped barrel if possible. Of course the video is now unavailable, but Hilton Yam did a 1000 round test with a Dan Wesson 45 and their new ramped barrel not too long ago. Quite a bit of failures to feed. Per Mr. Yam's explanation, a ramped barrel in 45ACP creates a different load angle for the cartridge as it travels from the magazine into the chamber. A different (steeper) angle than the original design with a two-piece ramp. And once a ramped barrel is installed, there's no going back because a part of the frame is physically removed. (so no, polishing doesn't equate) Dan Wesson's motivation (and maybe Springfield too) is manufacturing efficiency. If their 45s had ramped barrel just like their 9mms and 10mms, then interchangeability of parts and assembly would be faster and easier. |

I'd find a CA roster OG rollmark model. There are a ton of used ones for a good price out there too. |

| I have 3 of the older production TRPs 2 non railed and a railed version, they will never leave my possession, I purchased the 2nd non railed one because I found a deal on the used market I couldn’t pass up, no feed issues for me, no experience with the current models they are putting out. |

No experience with the new ones but I highly recommend buying an older TRP I own several custom and semi custom 1911s and the TRP is a work horse. It’s won me several 1911 competitions and is an all around accurate and reliable blaster. A few drops of oil and they will go a couple thousand rounds of training between cleanings. Attached File |

| My buddy's a dealer, shoots a ton of matches, league, etc. I let him borrow my 2019mfg TRP Operator, half rail, Armory Kote, 100% factory set up gun, Bull bbl, flgr, 45acp. He loves shooting it, it's super slick from high round count. He bought a brand new TRP hoping for a vestige of similarity between the two. Let's just say he wants to trade me guns😂 |
| My new 45 Emissary has a ramped barrel and it's been 100%. Full disclosure, I noticed before I ever shot it that the frame was proud of the ramp on both side by a few thousandths and I stoned it flat. I runs great with ball, hollowpoints, whatever. |
