Just picked up one of these after wanting one for the last year. Trigger is really nice. That being said, what are you all using for grips, the OEM grips? Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad but I am interested in either the Hogue rubber molded grips or some Lok’s, I have Lok’s on a CZ 75 and a SA Garrison, I really like them. My hands are fairly large, but not catchers mitts, I just want something a little larger than the OEM’s. Thanks! |

Then I tried some Altamont bonded ivory and extensively reshaped them on the sander. I keep going back to the factory grips. I think LOK and/or VZ have a palm swell grip that’s a good deal thicker in the middle. |

Depends what you want to do with the pistol. I have one with a set of thin (Brownells discontinued “NAVIDREX” grips. Probably the same concept as the ALTAMONT grips available now. They’re OK. I despise the “MARK III” grips with the thumb-shell on both sides. Most uncomfortable grips ever. Practically un-shootable with those monstrosities in my hand. That shelf bears against the palm of my hand in the worst way. I bought a set of old-style checkered grips that I still need to install. I think I like the gun most for its historical tones. I think I like it best as a conversation piece. Probably better with the old-style checkered grips for that. |

I have to agree with the sentiment around the Mark lll grips too. I've been perfectly happy with the original wood grips on my SA-35. They are perfect, for me, and I've never had the last desire to look for something else. |

Update: Thanks for the input guys. I will admit the SA stock grips are not bad, not bad at all. Years ago I had one of the last Browning Hi Power’s made in Belgium. The stock walnut grips were not near as good as the SA’s by any means. I ended up trading that gun many years ago and even though it was drop dead gorgeous, it and I just didn’t mesh. I hated the very small and very stiff safety along with the magazine disconnect. I knew all of that could be changed, but I got a hankering for something else. All of that being said, I got a pair of the Hogue rubber over molded grips with the finger grooves, I figured for $25 it was worth a shot. They fit me like a glove and I am very pleased with them. Not as pretty as walnut by any means but for shooting they feel really good. |
