Is it worth the expense and effort to replace the plastic parts with steel parts in a Beretta 92?
Any noticeable improvement?

The only thing I routinely replace is the plastic coated trigger, and that's just personal preference. I like the feel of the steel trigger better.

After digging around a little further after I ask the question it seems that the parks are actually metal with a polymer coating on them.

So it's kind of sounding like it's not really worth the expense

It depends, and you can confirm with a magnet which are plastic coated steel. The mag release and trigger are plastic coated metal so you don't need to worry about the steel magazine tube notches wearing out your mag release. The guide rods are just plastic.

I replaced the mainspring plug, trigger, mag catch, and safety on my 92FS with metal parts-also now it is a 92G. The guide rods aren't an issue so I left the plastic one in there.
