I'm thinking about another handgun mostly for range/target use. I think i'm done picking up striker-fired handguns so i am looking for either SAO or DA/SA. Currently, i own the following in those categories Sig P226 (older W German variety) Beretta M9A4 CZ Shadow 2 Carry SA Operator AOS 1911 - 9mm Ruger GP100 Just looking for some ideas. Thanks |

If you want a "normal" sized handgun a CZ75 SA is just awesome. If you want a little (or a lot) larger sized handgun the old CZ Tactical Sports are pretty darn good, too. Big, heavy (mine weighs around 3.5 lbs. loaded) and has an unbelievable trigger. If I forget to do some dry firing with it first I usually put that first round down low in the paper while trying to take up some slack in the trigger (like most guns usually have). If you want a run of the mill SA/DA that is accurate but may need some trigger work then a CZP09 (the full size model now, "F" I think) is awesome. My older P09 9MM is the most accurate center fire semi auto pistol I've ever shot. I installed the safeties and run it cocked and locked. |

The Jet Funnel Kit and magazines are half of what they cost 10 years ago. If you wanted optics you could always buy a LTT or send it out later. Attached File |

For me 1911's and 2011's are a favorite for SAO. The Hi -Power and Sig's P210 are nice also. Beretta's and Sig's are my favorites for DA/SA guns. Gen 3 S&W's are pretty good too. HK's are very solid guns, but the trigger pull on DA isn't as nice as the metal framed guns. |

A 1911 in .45 ACP? That's the only thing that really comes to mind for me. Your collection is already very nice. The Beretta 92XI SAO was on sale for $500 at Sportsman Outdoor Superstore last week, but I have no experience with those. |

I shoot my 617-6 4” 22 LR more than any of my double action revolvers or DA/SA pistols. I shoot a lot of steel plates and shooting 22 LR is cheaper than shooting reloads in my model 15 or 36. I have a model 39-2, 439 and 5904 I still shoot a few times a year. I also have a model 18 S&W 22 LR but I want to pass it down as a family heirloom so I don’t shoot it much. I enjoy shooting double action revolvers more than single action revolvers since I carried a model 66 early in my LE career. I like any kind of shooting but I shoot a lot of 22 LR at steel plates. |

If it’s just going to see use as a range toy/‘beater’ that’s also decently accurate, among DA/SA choices you should look at S&W 3rd Gens, especially the LE trade-in guns. Better (short) trigger resets than Sig P-series guns (unless you upgrade to Sig’s factory SRT). 3rd Gen guns offer several caliber options although extra magazines can be quite spendy depending on the series: 10XX & 45XX versus 40XX & 59/69XX-series guns. This is my ex-CA Corrections 9mm model 6906. It showed exterior holster wear but internally appeared pristine. Another fired-only-at-quals gun.

I agree with some of the others here--45acp 1911. I own all sort of handguns but the ones I haul to the range on a regular basis are one of my Ruger Mark I,II,or III . these can be had at most any store from the used section for $250-$400 . Grab a couple of bricks of ammo and you are good to go for a lot of shooting. Looking at the OPs list of guns it jumps out at me that he doesn't own a .357 revolver. Such a gun is so versatile with anything from powder puff 38 target loads all the way up to full house .357 loads . I would suggest a S&W 686 with a 4"- 6". Someone else suggested a S&W 617 (22lr) which is also one of my favorite messing about guns. Again as a revolver it can shoot a wide range of ammo=cb caps,shotshells shorts , longs , longrifle. I say longs in jest as they are really collectable at this point in time. |

Mags aren't cheap, but you can buy the upgraded set at J&G Sales with two mags, and for a range toy, that should be fine. I like mine enough that I splurged on an extra mag and a holster.
