Absoloutely love the 507k optic with the MRS, but not enough to have to install an adaptor plate or remove lugs on my Hellcat. Im sure this has been discussed before, but what is a good quality RMSC dot that holds zero and has a goos track record? Something that doesnt overhang the slide sides. MRS (34moa circle/2-3moa dot) would really be nice, but not an absoloute deal killer if its not available. Are the Shield and Viridian dots any good? Anything else? |

I used the smsc shield for the last few years on my hellcat, carried lots, no issues. I just swapped it out due to aging eyes, went with a holosun 407k with 6moa green dot. Hopefully it’ll hold up as well as the Shield did, battery lasted about 14-16 months with it being on constant as they are. Have it listed in EE now if you’re looking

Vortex Defender CCW. They’ve changed the issues with the initial release; emitter refresh issue and hours long auto shut off (minutes now). I have one direct mounted to my G48 and so far I like it. I’ve only had a month or so and have put maybe 500 rounds through it. But it’s remained in place, the witness marks for the mounting screws are where they started, and it’s held zero. I’m more impressed with the G48 and optic than I expected to be and am able to put hits on a torso sized steel target out to 80 or so yards with the combo. It probably could go farther but that was the limit of the range bay I was on. |
| I use almost exclusively Sig optics on my budget set ups. I run Leupold on my fancy stuff. But for my ARs I run Romeo 5s because let's face it, I'm neither high speed nor low drag. And I don't have an RS but I have a Romeo zero elite and a Romeo x compact. I think they're great. My primary is a Leupold DPP, so on the zero the little button in front doesn't bother me, but the Romeo x compact is awesome. Good clarity. A little blue, but again I'm comparing to my DPP. Crisp dot. I'm assuming good battery life. I changed batteries seasonally because the DPP has garbage battery life, but just as a precaution. I had a couple romeo zeroes with the plastic lens and the plastic lens scratches significantly and right away but the glass lens on the zero elite is crystal clear and has held up so far on my Turkatto quite well. |
