Got my first RDS for a handgun and the holder I bought (KT MECH) just has the back cut out to make room for the optic. Wonder if I should've gotten something different that covers the optic. What are you guys using? Eta. This is the holster on my "war belt", I still CC an iron sighted pistol. |

I don't know that I've seen a holster that actually covers the sight. I certainly don't own one. Edit: I did just get a holster for a S&W 629 (.44 Mag revolver) with a dot. The body side is full leather, the outward facing side has a cutout. I wouldn't have said it would actually work but it does. Anyway this is the closest I've seen and the dot is still pretty much all out there. |

I think Safariland makes one of their duty holsters with them. I've seen some on videos but the cover adds a lot of bulk. For a cop it's probably worth it, maybe not for somebody like me. |

Best holster I've used is the Safariland line of 6300 or 7300 series holsters. One has a concealed thumb latch the other a "flip-top hood. I've used both over a number of years. These holsters for optics feature a flip top that covers the sight. |

It it hard to find leather for a large frame revolver with RDS. |

| I run RDS setups at work and run open top/ no cover Safariland holsters without issues. My current holster had a flip down hood on it but doing ground work and fighting on the ground had the hood pop off often. Granted, I use a Steiner MPS so its a closed box but I only wipe the lens off once a week or so to clean dirt, water stains etc away. |
