I think I'm going through my mid life crisis. I like all my 1911's, but in a way, I also find them somewhat boring. 2 Questions I have been mulling over in my head. 1. Should I send my Baer Custom Carry 9mm back to Baer and get the lower Hard Chromed?, I think the classic 2 tone look is sexy, but I also like a full blued non front serrated Baer. I don't think Baer's prices are all that bad on HC the frame. 2. I like rail guns, should I pick up a railed Colt Combat Unit in 9mm? Colt's QC and fit and finish can be all over the place, and while slide to frame fit doesn't affect accuracy all that much, Baer's have ruined me on rattily 1911's. Unfortunately, Uncle Les isn't in the mood to offer an Ultimate Recon in 9mm. |

Yea. I'd probably have to factor in an eventual send off to someone like Evolution armory for a frame weld up on a colt. Sadly DW doesn't offer a non optic Specialist anymore. Baer got back with me. $470 total for brushed Frame Hard Chrome, so, I think I'm going to send in my Custom Carry I have lots of Blue and Black guns. Two tone will be something a little different. |

For the 9mm railed gun a TRP might be a good base. You can get optic ready, 20 LPI, and railed frame. Obviously the internals are what people arent a fan of but it would have the ramped barrel too. Just a thought ETA: And like the Colt, you could have it tightened up and refinished down the road |
