I have not finished my first cup of coffee. So I not quite getting your question. Having said that... witness marks on screw heads are to have a visual to see if the screws are coming loose. |
So... I find comfort in the fact that if Trump has to work so hard to go to Heaven, then there is a shit load of Democrats that have no f-cking chance to go anywhere but HELL. Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a sledge-hammer.

| I get what OP is saying. The only reason I can think of, is if your zero starts going to shit and you've eliminated your optic as the source, you can pull your optic off and instantly know whether or not your plate is the problem. If I'm at that point I'm probably just redoing my whole setup. |

Previous poster is correct. If zero shifts, go through the whole setup. Personally I don't bother with witness marks. It something is off, I know it. For pistols that get used a lot, I am the opinion that optic screws need to be proactively replaced every couple years. I think witness marks are more useful to an armorer or gunsmith. Shooter drops off pistol. Shooter says pistol wont hit the side of a barn. Armorer takes one look and knows its actually is the the arrow, not the Indian. |
