I cleared my MAC 9DS Comp to run some dry fire drills. When I went to reload it, I noticed something wrong with the round that had been chambered. Tossed the first round, and loaded again by dropping the slide on the magazine. Cleared it, and noticed the same thing. The bullet is getting pushed into the case. I've got close to 1K through it with no issue, but this makes me think that I could be getting high pressures. Should I consider warranty work on it? Attached File |

I don't think I would call that an issue with the gun just yet. Is that factory ammo or handloaded? Looks like an ammo neck tension problem to me. Have you tried a different brand of ammo? I would get a couple boxes of different mfg and give that a try first. My handloaded bulk range ammo will do this on occasion because I use mixed brass and don't separate by head stamp. Sometimes I can feel it in the lever when crimping the others in catch when I'm inspecting it i give a good push and twist on the bullet to check for this. Eta My own opinion is while the possibility exists for this to cause high pressure it probably isn't because there is insufficient neck tension holding the projectile. |

Heavy spring slamming the round into the feed ramp or loose neck tension would be my first thoughts Last year I changed my sizing die because I was having issues with a lot of my brass not having enough neck tension unless I crimped the bullet so hard it was impossible to run the press. Bullets kept being loose and easily pushed into the case, but didnt fall out of the case (crimp was enough on the case mouth) |

Pull the barrel and make sure a loaded round drops all the way in to the chamber. It most likely will as I don't see rifling or for that matter any marks on the bullet. Also check it with other mags, you might have a mag that is tweaked and not lining up the nose of the bullet high enough. |
