Anyone know why the bolt, or part that pushes cartridges from the magazine, is thicker on the slide on the left and also missing that hole next to it? The two stainless slides are the exact same part number and UPC direct from Sig (middle ones been media blasted after some topside work). Seems to work through manual manipulation (not fired, waiting on sights) though the thicker one is very close to the safety lever in the FCU. I don’t know why they would be different unless the two slides were made at different times and represent a change that SIG phased into this particular product number (which they are known to do without any notice). I’m also not sure what the hole is, but I always assumed it was a drain hole for the extractor channel. But if it makes you feel any better, the different in thickness of that ridge that pushes the round out of the magazine is the same as the difference between the military and commercial M17 / M18 slides. I assume the thinner version is intended to lighten the slide - they probably realized it didn’t need to be that wide, as both style function fine.
