Think i got the short straw this time .. I traded some new misc parts for a legacy p229 9mm complete slide/barrel/recoil spring and some grips. Thinking I could just slap that bad boy onto a police trade-in 229 and call it a day . From my research now , you can't ? Has to be 9mm specific frame ? If so where can I find one |

I thought the older p229 frames were either 9mm or .40/357 sig specific - different widths, as with the magazines. The newer p229s went to the same frame size for all with different locking blocks. I could be wrong though - suggest checking SIG-specific boards, the info is definitely out there. |

For the magwells, but slide rails are the same IIRC. Just use the newer wider mags. |

However, the new 229 guns will have same frame and same locking blocks regardless of the caliber. So, you may be just lucky depending on the parts you got. |

OP, I am not strong on which frames fit your particular slide. I would suggest contacting Matrix Precision and seeing if one of their Revenant Arms frames will work for your slide. They seem reasonably priced, and can be sold assembled if you buy the frame completion kit. They have a few 228/229 options, so maybe they have one that will work for you. ETA: you might be able to make a 226-X carry - 229 slide on 226 frame assuming your slide is compatible. Uses 226 mags. |

If so where can I find one FWIW - I purchased a P229 in 22 caliber around 15 years ago and swapped out the barrel/slide with a 9mm one without any issues. This was a 229 and not one of the newer 229-1 models. |
