Looking at getting one, they can still be had for $50 or so. After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I’m sure I can install it myself. I have done for more technical gunsmithing, FWIW. That being said, is it a worthwhile enhancement? My 229 is not my primary carry piece, but would be a truck gun on occasion. This is an older model with no rail and not cut for an optical sight, pretty one dimensional for the most part. For this that have installed one on their Sig, is it that much better and/or worth it? Yes definitely worth it. But if you read the fine print on your warranty from Sig, you will void your lifetime warranty if any work is done without using an Sig certified smith. It’s not much more to just send it to Sig and have them do it. @rebel_rifle |

| If you install the SRT kit correctly, how will they know who installed it? The SRT is absolutely worth it. The kit for the P225,P226,P229 is the same. The P220 is the same too except it includes a new decocking lever. I've bought the P220 kit cheaper than one for the P226 for instance. Just remember it's the Sear and the new safety lever as some places sell the parts separately. Changing the mainspring housing to the new style strut, spring (Wolff #19) and small plastic retainer also makes a difference. When you have everything apart, if there's a wear spot, like on the trigger bar, hit it with a dremel buffer with some flitz. Use some TW25B or superlube synthetic grease on the contact points before you reassemble. Anything from Bruce Gray is the tits too. When Sig came out with the legion line, they used input and parts from Bruce Gray. |
| Do you shoot off reset? I’m a full reset occasional slapper so I’ve never cared about them. I would like to try a something like a GrayGuns high end trigger job some day. |

Thanks everyone for your advice. I ended up getting a kit and just installed it. Viewing a couple of YouTube videos made it very clear on how to do it. It has reduced the take up by at least half that I can unscientifically tell. It hits the wall and then breaks with absolutely no take up at all, just as advertised. I did measure the single stage pull weight before and after, and yes, I know it’s not supposed to change that. Before the SRT, I would get pulls of 3 1/2 to 4 lbs of pull. After the SRT it’s a very consistent 3 1/2 lbs every time. No creep at all. As for voiding the warranty, like one of the previous posters said, I don’t know how Sig would be able to tell as long as they are authentic Sig parts which they are. According to my serial number it was made 1997-1998, I bought it in 2005 after Sig had gotten it back from Homeland Security on a trade in. It appears they must have completely refinished it as there was absolutely no holster wear at all. So, as you guys said, it was definitely worth it. |

Midwest Gunworks, eBay, and of course Sig among others. I got mine from eBay as it was OEM parts and new in the package and shipped the quickest. You can also Google for other places. Watch any one of the several YouTube videos first. Some guys have you removing the grips and other parts and you don’t have to. A pair of plastic tweezers come in real handy for the install. |

I agree with you about eBay as a seller. Years ago it was a great place to sell excess stuff and I did. But then they all but required you to accept PayPal, raised the fees and sided with the buyer virtually 100% of the time, I gave up on them. As a buyer, not having to use PayPal and with the Buy It Now option, it’s basically Amazon with sometimes much better pricing and options. FWIW |

Personally I would not carry a P series without an SRT. I installed a SRT kit in a 228. The trigger is better than my 226 Legion. The 226 has more creep. |

Yes! The SRT kit arrived today and it took all of 15 minutes to get it installed and checked out. Very nice difference in feel and length of the reset and crisp break after take up. I shouldn't have waited so long to do it - I need to put one in mt 220 now. |
