Installed #8 front and rear and pistol shooting 6” high at 15-20 yards. When I got the gun it was missing the sights so can’t verify what was on it. My technique isn’t perfect but not that bad. Never had a gun do this even other DA/SA Sigs and Berettas. What do I need to change to bring POI to POA? I’ve already tried the various 6 o clock hold vs Combat hold methods and still shooting extremely high. |

File the sight down and put cold blue on it. Pretty sure it’s the rear sight that gets filed to lower point of impact . Not sure what brand sight you installed but height varies by manufacturer. I prefer Trijicon HD Some offer different front blade height options. “Factory P226 fixed sights are marked with numbers (typically #6 or #8) stamped on the side of the sight base, which dictate the height and resulting point of impact (POI).Rule of thumb: Move the rear or front sight in the opposite direction of where you want the bullet impact to move for height corrections with fixed sights. To raise the impact, you need a shorter front sight or a taller rear sight. Conversely, to lower the impact, use a taller front sight or shorter rear sight.Front Sight Changes: Changing the front sight by a difference of two numbers (e.g., from #6 to #8) shifts the point of impact by roughly 2 inches at 25 yards. A higher number front sight lowers the POI; a lower number raises the POI.Rear Sight Changes: Changing the rear sight by a difference of two numbers shifts the point of impact by roughly 4 inches at 25 yards. A higher number rear sight raises the POI; a lower number lowers the POI.Standard factory setups for 9mm P226 models typically use #8 front and #8 rear.” |

Install a taller front sight, or better, buy a matched front and rear sight for the pistol. Tape a piece of cardboard or heavy paper to the front sight to determine the height needed. Make it extra tall so the bul,ets strije too low, then trim it until the the bullet strikes come up to the bullseye. |

Lots of wrong info here. Whether front or rear the sight numbers follow the rule numbers up point of impact up. The number is NOT the height of the sight it represents POI only. High up, low down. If you have 8 front 8 rear then go to 6 front 6 rear and you will be close. |
