So I just got my P-10C from Wager Machine Works for an optic cut… They did a fantastic job. However, I’ve notice the after the last round the slide is not consistently locking back. it will about half the time, but just as often it won’t. I did take some time to fire a few magazines one handed to see if I was unconsciously riding the slide release. Same issue… I don’t remember having this issue before it went to Wager, so to the best of my thinking for whatever reason the stock recoil spring is now on the bleeding edge of reliability. Has anyone run into this issue? I’m thinking about trying a lighter recoil spring, maybe a #15? |

One of the issues with milling slides is changing not only the weight, but also how the weight is distributed. It could be slide velocity is faster or slower which can create issues. Edit for: could be either lighter or heavier recoil spring is needed. If the slide is too fast, it could use a heavier recoil spring or maybe a heavier mag spring. If it is too slow, then a lighter recoil spring or maybe a heavier mag spring, as well. |

Springs are cheap. I’d go whole hog, buy a +2# spring, a -2# spring and an extra power mag spring if they make one. First test I would only change out the recoil spring for the +2# spring. Then go from there. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

EDIT: Sorry, I read Slide Milling and thought Optics Cut. I have mine done with a Cerakote by Primary Machine and use an Holosun 510C. It's been 100% reliable for about 7 years, but when I first got it, I tried a Cajun Gunworks Stainless Guide Rod and I could not get it to work with any spring I tried. I went back to the OEM recoil assembly and it's been reliable since, even with mag extensions. For your issue, I think I'd try a +10% Wolff mag spring and maybe replace the spring on the slide lock with fresh OEM. Also make sure both the slide lock and the mag are really clean and operating smoothly.
