And after the better part of a box 
Just want a XS big dot sight and it will be perfect. Shot 10 rounds at a 12" target 25 yards away with +p and scored 8 hits, with practice I'll get the longer shots in tighter. |

I was actually on http://www.ruger.com when the home page flash splash changed.
It was an instant MUST have. It was a NEED, not a want. My initial impressions are listed below. I will write up a proper review once I have shot it. The cons include: 1. My Mark III magazines with the red medallions and silver eagles on the baseplate will NOT seat and lock in the gun. I tried with empty and loaded magazines, with the bolt closed and locked open. I was able to seat and lock a Mark III magazine with an all black baseplate, and I have a belt pouch with 20 of these magazines which I will test later today. 2. It came with a small rubber plug in the action that fell out when I first disassembled it, and would not plug back in anywhere. There is no mention of said part that I noticed in the manual. 3. It came with laminated wood grips, instead of Cocobolo, and yes, I know this is not new, but it still sucks. 4. It came in a cardboard box, just like my last threaded Mark III, my LCP, my LC9s Pro, my wife's LC9s Pro, and perhaps a bIt less relevantly - my SR556-VT...although my first SR556 did come with a decent soft case that carried it easily with extra magazines, a mounted Aimpoint Comp M2, and a mounted SureFire G3 weapon light. The pros include: 1. Radically improved ergonomics of the safety, which is now also ambidextrous. 2. Radically improved slide release ergonomics. 3. "One button takedown" - but be sure the safety is ON, showing the white dots, not the red dots, before you tear it down, or attempt to reassemble it, or it will NOT go back together. Don't bang on it or test your grip strength, like so many do with their older Rugers. Side Note: I have no problems reassembling my Mark I, II, and III Rugers. 4. She is one damn fine, and cool, looking rimfire pistol. See my first quick cell phone pics below. 5. I bought the first one sold at my local Brick-N-Mortar LGS - Jim's Firearms

So I did test it with a newer magazine that came with my threaded Mark III that I bought earlier this year, and that one seats and locks fine. I also checked the fit in my Guide Gear holster, and we have another winner.

My first revolver:
This is one beefy hunk of steel, and it sort of reminded me of that line from that film Snatch "Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work, you can always hit them with it." - Boris the Blade/Boris the bullet dodger/Boris the sneaky ****ing Russian. 
I've never had a shiny gun before (stainless or chrome finish) so this was a first for me. It was hard photographing this pistol because of the way the light bounced off it. The camera also picked up all sorts of scuffs in the finish that don't appear to the naked eye 
Something about brass, stainless steel and black that look great together. 
After reviewing the safety features of this revolver and familiarizing myself with it's safe usage, I felt confident enough to load live rounds in it for the photo shoot. I made doubly sure the hammer was down and there was no way it would go off. 
Not bad for $400 Canadian pesos. |
