These were just launched today. I haven't played with the green Osight C, but I have been using the XR for several months and it is pretty sweet. The pop up sights might be handy on the guns that lose the rear sight when you mount an optic. ![]() The Next Evolution Is Almost Here. |

I thought they were done with the charging hood. It didnt seem to be well liked compared to a removable battery, and added additional failure points. They kinda went backwards with that. Still no button lockout feature. Hard no for me |

I’d for sure be a buyer on a replaceable battery XR. |

I personally love the rechargeable aspect of it, and because Olight has primarily been developing rechargeable lights for the last decade, they need to stay on that avenue to be consistent with their brand. They will of course adapt to what the market wants, but don't expect them to drop something that their customers want. I am very trusting in rechargeable lithium batteries, as I own two Tesla's, my house has a massive LFP backup battery bank and solar array and most of my flashlights, phones, and computers are rechargeable. I see it as the way forward. I do also see the draw to a perceived higher reliability of being able to replace the coin cell and continue on. We all have to do what we are comfortable with. That said, they are always developing new products, and I cannot speak to what they are yet, either due to being under NDA or simply not knowing. I shouldn't even say it, but I am one of 16 people they selected to send a new prototype sight to for evaluation prior to production. This product is something that has been specifically requested by many potential customers. If enough people tell them they want an XR that takes coin cells, they will do it. |

I had an interesting conversation earlier where their fb rep showed a statement from olights US vice president justifying the parasitic drain in both the optics hood battery and the optics battery. Somehow there isnt any in the coin cell optics, but the drain is needed in the rechargeable ones. ![]() Attached File The rep also told me that their optics have a lockout feature which is accessed by pressing both the + and - buttons at the same time. This turns the optic off. He was unable to differentiate between turning their optic off and holosun's lockout mode that locks the buttons to prevent button presses from changing the settings ![]() Prior to telling me this he told another guy that the optic has no lockout feature and he would pass the idea on to their devs. ![]() He also advised me that if I was worried about the hooded models parasitic drain, that besides the sleep mode, that I could just turn the brightness down to 1 and it wouldnt drain as fast while in sleep mode. ![]() They could at least put a rep on their fb that knows what they're talking about. Heres the instructions he gave me to access "lockout mode" Attached File |

Things can definitely be lost in translation. That Dai Vid is David Chow, who has been in the flashlight world for around 25 years. I used to do product testing for him back when he first started Fenix Store, then Foursevens, before he became Chairman of the board at Olight. He knows his stuff. I personally do not store my Osights with the charging cover left on them, unless I have the sight completely powered off. I have enough Osight S models on carry guns that I leave a charging hood in my car, my dresser and my range bag. They all still have roughly the amount of charge they were put away with. I just don't find myself needing to charge my sights very often, so I wish they would come up with a USB cable that doesn't include a battery. I know some people have successfully charged using one of the MCC cables that some of their lights ship with, but they don't fit quite right and may put out too much current. |

Olight Steven. But even the Indian scammers use Americanized names, so that doesnt mean anything. I still have some of their original ITP branded lights before they became Olight and copied Streamlights Stinger 1994 garbage designed batteries with both the + and - terminals on the bulb end. Not using regular 18650 is pants on head. I'd say it turns away serious flashaholics, but their whole product line and marketing does that sufficiently. I miss 4sevens. I have several of their Quarks still in rotation. The guy who bought them really tanked that company. I recall a SHOT Show years ago when he had his solo manned tiny single darksucks booth. He had a prototype light that had a bluetooth app that was unheard of at the time. It still isnt that common in the flashlight world and is just starting to be mainstream for the general consumer with home lighting. I hope he at least was able to make some cash from the idea. |

By the tome you got done turning it on and connecting the light to the phone and changed modes, you couldve turn the light on, clicked through all of its modes a dozen times and gone to find a beer. It wasnt a thing that blew you away, it was more of this is a first and I wonder what could be possible in the future. Bluetooth tech wasnt much of a thing yet. Iphones still used wired 3 pin heaphone jacks. That sounds awful. The Foursevens Quark Smart could be turned on remotely, brightness adjusted, custom programs uploaded, etc. Prometheus ran that company right into the ground. David Chow demoed some Bluetooth controlled light pods mounted to his Ariel Atom at SHOT show probably a decade ago. Those could have been super cool. He had a minigun he made that fired flashlights as it rotated and had that on the car as well. |

Or something. ![]() Kinda like that bridge builder joke. Anyways some of these are still the cheapest circle dot option for non critical/duty applications. I put an Osight on an advantage arms slide, and on a bastardized parts bin glock. Tested it out on a shockwave with slugs. Shits fine for a 22lr/poverty build. If it ever passes a sage dynamics test it will become more popular. These are just range/plinking guns. The full size RMR style model is pretty nice. Big window with a very clear circle dot. Looks great with astigmatism. Compared with a 507C side by side. The RMSC model is the one I tested with slugs. Basically, Osight is where Holosun was at when they first started selling optics. Nobody trusted them until they survived crazy torture tests, later got a military contracts (Latavia uses the 515GM on their LMTs. Great optic btw), or even survived use in Ukraine. Most of the reviewers are shills for products in general. Mygunsandgear drop test on steel plates looked promising. Definitely don't trust Sootch lmao. I'm not taking product advice from a guy that actually put a round through his hood. I think this recharging stuff is a damn gimmick though. I went with the coin battery model. You can literally find a 2032 battery in almost any electronic these days, and they are dirt cheap. Imagine paying only $1 for 50,000 hours of battery life. Yet for some reason Osight thinks that a USB charger is better why. Rechargeable batteries eventually swell/burst often taking the rest of the technology with it as it swells. Some of these use a 2016 battery, and again they aren't that expensive either. ![]() A rechargeable Holographic (like an Eotech) that has lower battery life would make more sense. I'm cheering them on the same way I cheered Primary Arms on. I really hope they get this down. It's far better than what Amergilo/Bushnell put out as far as micro dots. ![]() If Vortex offered a circle dot on their enclosed optics I wouldn't even look at these. |
