As a new G43X owner, and new to the compact RDS world, my first hard lesson was learning that the RMSc footprint is not the same as the K, and that my new G43X would not accept K footprint optics without an adapter plate, which I would prefer not to use. I found out immediately after purchasing my G43X that a limited edition, distribution only, FDE version of the G43X has been released and had a different MOS cut that will accept both K and RMSc footprint optics. This did me no good as I was limited to RMSc. With some research I discovered that for a direct to slide mount I could use either the Shield Sight, Vortex Defender CCW, or the Osight. I gravitated towards the Vortex and ordered one. Note that Vortex fixed the flicker/strobe issue with the LED a while back. Everything seemed fine except for when I discovered the motion activation, i.e. shake-awake feature, was not functioning. After verifying this I set up a return and ordered a replacement. The replacement came in and the down adjustment button had no tactile feedback or audible feedback. Basically it was mushy and you receive no indication that you were pressing the button. Uhg. All of the other buttons had a very positive tactile click and audible feedback. Since I was ordering a replacement, I decided I would order an Osight SE due to very positive feedback and relatively low price. When comparing the two it became very obvious that the Osight is a much better optic. For starters, the glass is much more clear and bright with noticeably less distortion, and this is with two lenses being enclosed versus the Vortex with a single lens being open emitter. The Osight is lower profile yet has roughly the same window size with a thinner housing wall. You have multiple reticle options. The auto shut off/shake-awake actually functions. I know this doesn’t matter much but the packaging is significantly better which just shows more attention to detail. Again, this is an initial impression with low round count, so I will check back in with any issues that may arise or even more positive feedback, but at the moment, if you are a G43X owner and you would like a direct to slide mount, it looks like the Osight is the clear winner. |

Nice OP. I'm up to four Osights now. I've not had any problems yet. Speaking of packaging. I ordered one of the RMR to RMSc plates. It came with screws and another adjustment key/tool. They are really on point. The quality for the dollar is very high. |
