https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/mp-9-shield-or-shield-plus-fde-carry-comp-slide-kit As S&W discontinued the 4" Shield Plus I decided to try this slide kit after seeing the description stated "Optic Ready - RMSc/K footprint". My 3.1" OR Shield Plus suffered from the slanted optic cut, and required a DPP plate in order to mount and zero an EPS Carry or 507K from Holosun, so I was hopeful that S&W had resolved their optics cuts issues as they specifically mention the Shield X now has a "flat-plane RMSc/K optic cut." Hopium is a hell of a drug. The kit looked wonderful, and removal of the cover plate revealed what appeared to be a Holosun K-cut, with only two posts in the front. I'm not sure if those posts were still RMSc height, or if the whole thing was just milled incorrectly, as neither a 407K nor an EPS Carry would sit flat and light was always visible between the slide and the optic (this after making sure the extractor pin was not sitting proud of the slide). A call to S&W and now I have an RMA and shipping label, when what I wanted was what was advertised. I was told by customer service that it was an RMSc cut (where's the back posts then?), and that the only Holosun he knew would work was ...the EPS Carry, which didn't work (though I did unmount it from another pistol to try, which I now have to rezero...). If you've read this far and have either the Carry Comp slide kit or the entire pistol and have managed to mount a K-cut optic to it without a plate as they claim, please let me know, as I wanted this to work, but since all customer service offered me was a return and not a replacement, I have my doubts that ordering another one expecting it to work would be worth the time.  |

That's what I figured but had to check before ordering another. Even an email sent to S&W asking for confirmation has gone unanswered. The only good thing I can say about their customer service is that they process returns of defective products and refunds in a fairly timely manner. Now I have to wait for another 15 percent off sale. |
