Nice. I take it you added (or someone else) taller sights? I've got a Nickel 74' and just picked up a 9mm from 78'. I've already ordered taller sights for the 78', but I'm still debating if I want to add them. It kind of throws off the line of the gun with the taller sights. I'm cursed with the love of the 1911 but am a lefty. So, I'm forced to add an ambi to everything I want to carry. Or learn to shoot right-handed. I added these sights (and ambi) to this 74'. | My Colt Commander experience was not good. Had a satin nickel Combat Commander in the late '70s that never ran well. Might have been an anomaly, but ditched it for a Star PD that I still have. |

Nice! I also have a '76 Combat Commander. It looks like Dump's in that post, the satin nickle finish. Mine has old and faded night sights, and had some old Pachmayr grips on it. I swapped those out for some (trendy at the time) slim Magpul ones. I need to get it a nice pair of like...buffalo horn or something. It didn't run great when I got it. Mostly just Old and Worn Out. I gave it all new springs, and had a friend do a fluff and buff on it. Shoots great. (Shoots a bit too great, actually! I'm a modern auto shooter, CZs mostly, so I'm used to much heavier triggers!) And of course it carries fantastic! yeah, think I need to go look at grips... |

My '77 Combat Commander that used to be a daily carry piece for several years back in the late 90s and early 00s, but now just a range toy. Over the years I've gone back and forth between the original arched MSH and the flat that it is wearing in this pic, and the original short trigger and the midlength trigger. Attached File |
| Bought mine (Colt Combat Commander) used in 1982. Awesome pistol. Duty gun for a couple years and then moved to a revolver while I was improving the Colt. |
