Maybe I just missed this and it happened after Uke war started but looks like Academy is using Turk stuff for their house brand ammo according to what I saw today. I picked up a few hundred round packs of brass case 9mm 124g for $20/ea. Mainly got this bc my (coincidentally) Turk pistol wasn't liking 115g Fed/AE during break in. I've good luck with a few brands of Turk ammo such as Turan, except one that I'm trying to remember. Any experiences with the Turkish sourced Monarch 9mm? |

My Walther P1 did fine with Federal AE 115 grain. Jamomatic with the Turkish Monarch. |

I would definitely pick up more, but our closest Academy is about an hour away. I may try to get down there this weekend. |

Up until very recently, Monarch was made by ZSR. I've shot 10k+ rounds of ZSR in the last couple years and it is good to go. The only issue I've had is mildly hard primers. Some Glocks with lightened triggers would get occassional light strikes. Any hammer gun and any other striker gun has been fine, though. The last batch of Monarch 124s that I got a couple of weeks ago had a "BPS" headstamp, IIRC. I am not sure who makes that and I haven't shot any yet. ETA: out of curiosity, I googled it. BPS Balıkesir Explosives Industry and Trade Inc. (BPS A.S.) manufactures BPS ammunition in Turkey. The company was founded in 2014 by Mehmet Akif Yavaşca and Müşteba Yavaşca. A couple reviews on Reddit are less than stellar, but I don't put much stock into any opinions on that forum. |

I've shot probably 5k of the 115 grain so far. Had one squib from an obviously under charged box. Other than that it has run well. One of my Glocks that doesn't like weaker ammo chokes on it but my others run it 100%. The 124 Nato stuff has been flawless in all my guns I've tried it in. |

My G17 will shoot most of it, but it does have some fail to fires with hard primers. My Prodigy chokes on it. The remaining boxes are relegated to my 9mm 635 and 633 carbines. I have had bad luck with the 115 grain Monarch made in Turkey (I got ZSR, TRN, and BPS headstamps with the stuff I ordered). It isn't that it doesn't fire or isn't accurate enough, it is just extremely weak. The overall average velocity over all three headstamps out of a 4.7" Beretta 92G Brigadier was 1050 fps. That is very slow for a 115 grain bullet out of a barrel over 4.5 inches. I got a couple of individual readings under 1000 fps. It cycles some of my guns just fine, others won't work with it at all. It was especially bad in my Glock 49, Beretta APX A1, and my Colt 635 clone (a real 635 upper on a CMMG lower). Strangely enough, it runs fine in the heavy slide 92 Brigadier, though ejection is pretty weak. Luckily it all seems to run fine in my Lage upper M10 and M11A1. So, it shouldn't take long to burn it up. I got some BPS headstamp 124 grain (not Monarch branded, marked as BPS on the box) recently. It runs fine in all the guns I have tried it in, including those that choked on the Monarch 115. Of course it is a slightly heavier bullet and average velocity was 1155 fps out of the Beretta. |

I shot a couple boxes of the BPS headstamp 124 grain Monarch last weekend. I must have received a good batch, since they ran fine through my 2011s. I'm a bit surprised that some people have had velocity issues with the 115 ZSR stuff. I've shot a bunch of the stuff and it always feels a bit hotter than Blazer Brass. |

I think they take turns sourcing from whoever wins a contract. I went looking for some of the 9mm because people said it was made by PPU. All the stuff I saw was made in Brazil for the 9mm and 223 and 5.56. I have recently seen 380ACP, 40S&W, and 45 ACP that was all labeled "MADE BY PPU IN SERBIA". I haven't seen the Turkey stuff yet. |

I bought some of the new Monarch 115 grain made in Brazil. I have never experienced such awful accuracy in pistol ammo. I was shooting drills on falling steel targets and thought that my optic loosened up. I checked and the optic was tight. I put out some paper targets and could not even keep a 10 shot gun on paper at 25 yards shooting from a bench with improvised rest. Looking at the cartridges, they appear to be heavily crimped. I'm now sure if that is the reason for the awful accuracy. I might have gotten some from a bad batch, but not sure. If you are going to try these Brazilian stuff, just buy a box or 2 at first. Don't do what I did and buy 4,500 rounds before testing it.  I still have a bunch of the Turkish 115 grain stuff and it continues to shoot fine. |

I have had nothing but great results with the monarch/magtech steel case ammo. I think it is the best bang for the buck for 9mm. |

I have had nothing but great results with the monarch/magtech steel case ammo. I think it is the best bang for the buck for 9mm. No. I was referring to brass case. |
