Every so often I have a desire for a 4" .44 mag revolver.

I have had a couple of 6" 629's for 30+ years and really want to add a S&W Mountain Gun to my stable but, at least for now, the cost is preventing that.

Question is: has Taurus ever made the 4" model 44 (not interested in their Tracker™ model) without the ported barrel?

My Google is weak but, I can't find a reference to a non ported version so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks for the link!

That proves it was made without the ports.

When I'm ready to buy, the ports might not be a deal breaker but I definitely prefer the revolver without

This looks to be available again, maybe re-listed, I don't know...

That said, if you look at all of the pictures very carefully, it is indeed ported.

Yep, you're right.

Any experience with the ports?
I'm not a buyer right now anyway, just doing my research.

If I'm being honest, I'm much more inclined to wait for a S&W Mountain Gun; provided I can give it a thorough inspection!
