| I bought 4 micro Dagger frames from PSA recently and have been building one at a time. Well the first one was having issues. Ftf. PSA, Shield Arms and Glock mags. Started to get discouraged as I just bought a Glock 43x that my daughter shoots when we go to the range. It runs like a sewing machine. Well after several range trips and sore shoulders from racking it at home countless times yesterday at the range I asked one of the RSO’s to try it. I was trying to eliminate me as the problem. I have run 115,124 and 147 thru it. He racked the slide and immediately asked if I have a plus power spring in it. Nope. He says it’s really stout. Comparing it the the 43x, I agreed. So I went home and measured the slide pull weight with a digital weight gauge. Not a scientific measurement but consistently the dagger measured .5 to 1.5 lbs more than was posted online for the micro dagger spring weight. And that was only to just before the slide lock would engage. If I went far enough to engage the slide lock it was well over 20 lbs. It’s already 1 lb more than the Glock 43x if it’s at the advertised weight. Mine was 1.5 to 2.5 lbs more than the 43x. I contacted PSA and the promptly said they would send me a new spring assembly. Great customer service. Well I had the day off and started messing with the recoil spring assembly. Took it apart and compressed the springs with a bolt and nut then heated them up a bit. (Heat gun. Not a torch) I did this several times and got about .5 lbs average lower than the 43x. Took it to the range today and it ran great. (Shield 15 rounds mags worked great) Ate up everything I threw at it. I likely won’t keep the heated springs in it and I have no idea how much I compromised them but looks like I may have fixed my issue. I also ordered a NDZ recoil spring assembly with the stock (Glock) spring weight and a reduced spring as well as I am going to add a comp and green dot. So if your having mag issues consider a recoil spring assembly. $27 and you pick the weight you want. If you don’t want to mess with the gun and are having similar issues the run +p ammo thru them. ?? |

I received the NDZ recoil spring assembly. The 15lb spring was too weak to hold the slide locked up when pulling the trigger with no mag dry firing. Might be fine with loaded mag but i decided to start with the 17lb spring. Went to the range yesterday and it ran great. I have the Harrington Arms comp on it and it ran without issue the entire time. Also bought a second OSight Se and put it on this pistol. I really like it so far. I'm going to put another 200-300 rounds thru it and if it's goes well I will add it to the carry collection. |
You do have the latest version of their mags right? They should have a red follower, the two earlier iterations had black followers. I had issues with my slide not locking back on empty, but PSA resolved that problem and I really like the gun now. The only thing I wish they would change is the magazine baseplates, the factory plastic ones flex when loaded which didn't inspire confidence so I replaced them with aluminum versions; they cost as much as the mags but I'm much happier now. I've modded some other things on it as well, including adding a Vicker's slide racker since I've started getting arthritis in my left thumb (likely from dislocations/partial dislocations over the years) and it just makes it faster, for me, with an optic on top and when wearing gloves. I know a lot of people will just rack the slide using the optic and I'll practice that occasionally, but I really don't like having palm prints on my optic.

| Actually I’m using the latest Shield Arms mags and mag release. I’m thinking the Palmetto Micro Dagger recoil spring assembly’s are too stiff. Combined with a 15 round mag spring maxed out when full there is just a bit too much resistance and is causing failure to feed. Factor in spring rate tolerances for both springs and I think that’s why some guns are fine and some aren’t. |
