Despite being 10 oz lighter the recoil is comparable to a PPK/S thanks to the delayed recoil locked breech design. The recoil spring is also much lighter making it a decent choice for someone with weaker hands. The safety doesn't lock the slide, which is a nice feature in terms of being able to clear the weapon with the safety engaged. My Kimber Micro is shown below along side a RIA Baby Rock. The group on the target is from the Kimber, 10 yards, slow fire. It's suitably accurate for a pocket sized pistol. 
However the fixed barrel design PPK/S is more accurate, as is the all steel 24 oz (empty) Baby Rock. I bought the Baby Rock because it was cheap, with low expectations, but it has surprised me by being accurate and very reliable. 
The Kimber's 2.75" barrel also gives up some velocity to the 3.5" PPK/S and the 3.75" Baby Rock. That said, the 2.75 barrel on the Kimber will still get you about 975 fps. It's a bit short of the 1000 fps I like to see with 90 grain Hornady XTPs as they expand reliably and penetrate about 13" at that velocity. ---- In short, the Kimber is very reliable, suitably accurate, lightweight and much better suited to actual pocket carry than the Baby Rock, PPK/S, Bersa Thunder, etc. However my RIA Baby Rock is equally reliable, more accurate and launches a 90 gr XTP at about 1050 fps. Consequently, if I am pocket carrying a backup pistol, it's the Kimber Micro. If I am IWB carrying a pistol because I need something smaller and more concealable than my usual pistol, I carry the Baby Rock. |
Been pocket carrying the Kimber micro 380 FDE for about 5 months now. Nothing but positive praise. Bought mine used practically in new condition, not even any wear marks on the slide rails. Paid $425 with box, all paperwork and 2x mags. Flawless functioning shooter with Fiocchi RN , Sig V-Crown , and my 100 gr full house handloads. Fits very nicely in my hand. I'm a very thin build and I needed a pocket carry handgun for summer Tee shirt weather. I carry my Micro in the Desantis Nemesis holster. Very comfortable pocket CC despite my thin build.

Picked one up Monday for pocket carry. Went in to look at a S&W Airweight .38, and saw this for $100 more. Weight was lighter than the Smith, so i FO'd Any other pocket carry holster recommendations besides DeSantis Nemesis? Attached File |
