Picking mine up in a few days shipped from PSA at a very good price. I don’t know if that price will be good by the time you read this. First Canik in over 40 years of shooting guns. In any event, are there any suggestions for the proper preparation of a Mc9 Mete prior to that first range trip? I’ll likely want to make this my carry because other than the LCP I really don’t have anything lightweight to carry anymore. The lightest is a Glock 23. and I prefer a pocket carry and if not feasible SLING bag carry. IWB does not work for me. Among other things, please also address the concerns about failure to go into battery and light primer strikes. Thanks in advance. |

I bought one last may and it has been very good with no issues.It is my main carry gun and i do fire it here and there in winter for practice.I held off buyin when they came out and waited.I know early ones had issues seems they went away and now im reading some having issues in ca being they are new there and im sure had to makes changes to make them ca compliant. Im in az and got mine here.I carried a glock 43 before liked it too shot good but wanted more capacity in the same size |

Thanks for your post. I take it you did nothing in particular to prep the pistol for the first range trip? And, if you don't mind, what is your carry load, and have you tried various HPs and FMJ without issue? How many rounds through yours thus far? Thanks, |

I bought one last year The throat is short, so it may not fully chamber longer 9 ammo, also it wouldn’t feed larger cavity hollow points like the sig 147 jhp I ended up using hornaday 135 critical defense I mounted a holosun 407k and once I figured out the ammo it likes, it’s been solid I did replace the factory trigger with a freedomsmith racer cut, it did reduce the trigger pull by maybe an ounce or 2, it did clean the trigger pull up, made the break cleaner and reduced the pre travel a tiny bit |

Bought a MC9L several months ago and it's back at Canik for the second time due to failure to feed/fire issues. They replaced the barrel and recoil spring (after sending me a new recoil spring first), which did nothing for the problems. Most of the failures, the slide returns forward but it won't fire. The striker drops but no bang. Reset the trigger and it fires. No light strikes on the primers, just something not working in the striker I think. Tried a half dozen types of ammo and the problem remains. I also have a SFx that runs flawlessly and is a great shooting gun. My son bought a MC9L identical to mine a few weeks after I bought mine and his has been 100 percent flawless. |

And I recall reading that some people recommend polishing the feed ramp. I see no need to do that with the piece that I received the other day. It seems quite polished already. In the meantime, I’ve locked the slide back and I’m letting it sit that way for 3 to 5 days. Will also cycle the slide a couple hundred times or so. Then I think I’ll bring it to the indoor range and feed it some 124 fmj. Please advise if I’ve missed or skipped items that should be addressed. Thank you. I also sanded down the frame rails- the polymer therein, and polished throat of the barrel. Hopefully, this will help with the break in, and I can avoid modifying the extractor spring and or extractor. My pistol was very tight and it’s hard to imagine that a heavier recoil spring would be desired or needed. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the responses. |

In my experience the Canik's like hotter ammo. I just picked up a used MC9 so not sure what if anything was done to it prior (looked new). I just had it out to the range to sight in a Holosun I put on it. Fired 40 rounds with no real issues. I had one round that the primer did not go off. It didn't look like a light strike so maybe an ammo issue. This is like my 6th Canik. I also have the Rival S. I load 124 gr round nose bullets over 4.2 gr Tight Group. Hope you get problems ironed out. |

Hope you get problems ironed out. Sounds like a sizing problem with reloaded ammo. I used to reload quite a bit but not able to where I currently reside. Please keep us posted as you go forward with the pistol. Haven't shot mine yet. I will try to post a photo of my trimming of the polymer slide rails. It's not a very clean job. Guess I'm old enough to remember when we always made some reliability/op mods to duty pistols, back when there were a lot of 1911s and L-frame revolvers. I should probably expect more but I actually have a little confidence in a pistol that I've been through with fine tooth comb like this. Alternatively, I could just get a Glock but that's like choosing gruel over filet mignon at the buffet  .

My buddy bought one yesterday AM at Bass Pro. We met up and went to the range yesterday afternoon. Now, granted he was shooting some shit ammo through it (LOL, i know) the likes of Sterling nickel plated steel case, Brown Bear lacquer case, and all were 115gr. It did have some failures. I pulled it apart and lubed it and ran a bore brush through it and it was flawless after using my 124gr brass ammo. I told him that the Turk guns usually like break in to be 124gr at least. I gave him a handful of my rounds and it ran great with it. I like the gun. Great OEM sight picture and low recoil with a nice grip with the largest backstrap installed. |
| My cousins husband carries an MC9. I bought my wife an MC9 Prime because she wanted an optic. Dropped a Vortex Defender CCW on it. Both guns shoot well. The Prime has more that 500 rounds since November and maybe one stovepipe. Hard to say if it was ammo, grip, or gun. Just shooting typical range ammo... 115 and 124 Norma and PMC. |
