| I have a MK II stainless steel, bull barrel. I want to put a threaded barrel for a suppressor. Any MK II barrel will work? In TN most dealers will do a suppressor on 4473, but not sure on integrally suppressed barrels. My thinking is I could use one for the MK II and the MP compact my son has. Any suggestions or links would be great. Thanks for the help. |

Option one - send it out to someone like ADCO to get threaded. Option two - get a threaded upper, such as a Pac-lite or a MaddMacs I just picked up this paclite today from my FFL that I bought from midwayusa. It was the only 4.5” one they had in stock. They will let you back order the 4.5” olive fluted one… If mine wasn’t the taper barrel model, I would have done option 1…..way cheaper and I would have went a little shorter..maybe 3.5”, especially since I will eventually put a dot on it anyway. I'd just get yours threaded. I have a old non threaded tactical solutions upper and it's great. I would have no issues buying another. My TacSol upper on my 22/45 is almost too light. Would be great on a little shorty but mine is a 5-6" and it feels weird with no weight in the top or bottom of the gun. Shoots great though. If you do get one and are going to suppress it get the shorter option. Looks like they don't do the shorty anymore, but I'd do 4.5 over 6 for sure. |

The rub with the ruger MK series is the barrel is integral to the serialized receiver, so it is an FFL item to get a spare. my vote is just get a complete spare threaded gun, if you are already invested in the ruger platform with parts magazines etc get a ruger. If not invested, can look at other options. I am very happy with my threaded S&W victory- great performance out of the box, no tinkering - less expensive than the ruger ( or at least it was when I bought it about 4 years ago.) it is a bit heavy bring bull barreled and all steel- which I tend to prefer anyway. |
