Figured I’d try and get the party started and maybe get a shot at the first one !!! Tisas has truly been kicking @$$ with their pistol line up and as a very satisfied purchaser of their JSOC replica, I just wanted to put it out there that a USMC MEU-SOC replica would be a huge seller in my opinion. Very few .45s pistols have the mystic that this pistol has and if done correctly and the details are paid attention too it would fly off the shelves !!!, Just my opinion but here is a 69 page thread on the MEU-SOC pistol….no doubt there is a lot of interest in the particular weapon. Quoted: It would make sense for that would be the next gun in the SOCOM line. They did a great job with the MAC JSOC and Raider. @SDSImports How about it? Edit: Though I was just thinking, one could take the Tisas Stakeout, put a set of Pachmayr wrap around grips on it and it would be a pretty good facsimile of an early MEU(SOC). https://tisasusa.com/tisas-1911-stakeout-45/ Tisas (or MAC) could make this a little closer with the ambi safety and the trigger from the Duty model. https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-3vxd7ju6xz/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/150/1095/Tisas_10100516_Right__94654.1686240771.jpg https://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e131/akim85/M45%20CQC/aa020.jpg Swapping out the trigger and the safety would be easy. |

Unfortunately the Stakeout had it billboarded on the slide…. I’m really thinking of buying the USMC 45 and going from there. I’m guessing the semi hardest part would be the scalloping on the ejection port and just getting the slide cut for sights. The rest is pretty much bolt on. |

I'm picking up a Stakeout TODAY that I got from Bud's. I have some Pachmayrs around somewhere. It would make a nice Variant 1 if it only had the Ambi safety, but since I'm not a leftie, I cant see spending $50 to add it. (SDS, I'd gladly be an R&D testbed for you if you want to send one my way. [Wink]) Ive got a RIA set up as a variant 3-ish as well. I can post a pic of the two once I pick it up and get the Pachs on. |
|
The issue is which variant of the MEUSOC would they use as the basis for a production model? To me, only the Variant 1 and 2 (GI slide and frame, USMC PWS rear sight, Millet front, King's ambi and Clark beavertail, Videcki solid or 3 hole trigger and Pachmayrs) are the iconic MEUSOC. |
|
Quoted: I agree…..the V1 would be easiest to copy without a Springfield Armory copyright issue as V2 had the early SA slides. The V1 “ system hardened slide” would be the easiest to mimic as it’s not a copyright infringement and only needs the 7790314 engraved on it. Features yes...Markings no. We focus on the aesthetics more than a deliberate copy. |

Quoted: Features yes...Markings no. We focus on the aesthetics more than a deliberate copy. @SDSImports Go virgin slide. If a guy wants to put the part number for a slide on his slide, let him go for it. Same for unit commemoratives, retirement gifts, guys who want personalized engraving... or users who just appreciate a clean-ass look, right out of the box. No cartoons. |

KC Kustoms has replica Clark Grip safety kcskustomcreations Quoted: Here it is. All I have left to do is blacken the stainless barrel sometime. I added a (single sided) Wilson Combat thumb safety and C&S Videki trigger. The trigger just about dropped in, and the thumb safety wasn't too hard to fit. I pretend that instead of "STAKEOUT" it says "7790314", but the way my eyes are going this isn't hard. I wish the Clark/Wilson 66 was easier to get a hold of, but this is fine for a budget gun and I'm not good at fitting a beavertail. Shown with my RIA as well. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/56562/IMG_4176_jpg-2906187.JPG Quoted: Quoted: I'm picking up a Stakeout TODAY that I got from Bud's. Very nice! Looks like I have to raid the change jar and check the couch cushions again... |
|
Quoted: Minus the memory bump and stakeout and add a lanyard MS and a WC mag and this thing would be damn close to a Variant 2 The barrel didn't take any of the blackening compound I used to cover the re-profiling, but I have some others in my toolbox to try. I also didn't have a Wilson 47D around, so this is a Shooting Star standing in. Attached File |

Quoted: V1 & V2 clones would be big winners. Also proper near correct clone sights, grip safety, thumb safety are necessary. If not, it's not worthy the MEUSOC name tag. To me, the V1 and V2 are the quintessential MEUSOCs. When the USMC went with bump grip safeties and Novak sights it became just another build. If I were SDS I'd opt for a V1 with a blank slide, King's thumb safety (of a copy of it), a Clark beavertail (or a copy) with the PWS rear and Millet front (or copy thereof). |

They should also use their US Army marked frames, round commander hammer, solid extended trigger, and FMH. Quoted: To me, the V1 and V2 are the quintessential MEUSOCs. Quoted: They should also use their US Army marked frames, round commander hammer, solid extended trigger, and FMH. They would need to use the Steak-Out frame because it is beavertail radiused to accept the grip safety that is compatible with the commander hammer. A commander hammer on the unmodified US Army frame would necessitate the rat tail grip safety... which would be incorrect. NO GO on solid trigger and... Flat Mainspring Housing? |

I meant just the Govt Property / US Army markings as those would be correct for the MEUSOCS. Yes, definitely need the Stakeout frame to have the proper grip safety in place. The Variant 1 had a solid Videcki Trigger as well as a flat serrated mainspring housing. The 3 Hole Vedecki trigger showed up in the Variant 2 Quoted: They would need to use the Steak-Out frame because it is beavertail radiused to accept the grip safety that is compatible with the commander hammer. Quoted: rat tail The hammer on this one is larger diameter and requires rat tail no rat tail The hammer on that one is smaller diameter, no rat tail. No that is not correct. Both need relieved GI grip safety. What Tisas did was reshape the GI style grip safety to get around the clearance issue. That is similar to what Colt did on the original Combat Commander in 1960s until decade later the rat tail was born. See the cut slop at the end of Tisas GI style grip safety.

Thanks. I have both of the guns in my links above. The IJ Falcon Commander has a noticeably larger diameter hammer than the Tisas Tank Commander. You would not be able to cock the IJ Falcon's hammer back with the Tisas grip safety installed. I'd prefer the larger diameter Commander hammer and rat tail on the Tisas too, but I'm not going to bother with all that. I did change the IJ's flat MSH to an arched MSH, so both of them fit my hand the same and have roughly the same aesthetics. Both are getting ambi-safetys; a Wilson Bullet Proof and a Fusion. Already had the Wilson ambi, but wasn't ready to throw-in another $100+ to have an identical ambi. Not when Fusion's was $50. Don't care for the look of ambis, but practical for me. I'll know which one I prefer after I get the Fusion ambi installed. The Wilson BP ambi is pretty slick and installs nicely. Shiny blue. Fusion ambi is flat black, like the IJ Falcon Commander's finish. The Tisas park'd finish is a dark gray. If we can't get a blued Tisas, the flat black looks way better IMO. |

Quoted: I meant just the Govt Property / US Army markings as those would be correct for the MEUSOCS. We're only discussing features of the frame that differentiate the different types of correct 1911. Obviously in a perfect world they would minimize "SDS-Knox. TN - Tisas, Turkiye" and hide it somewhere on the frame and then replicate any original markings that wouldn't yield a cease and desist. The SDS account here said that they're a new company, and that's valuable ad space on the side of the gun... so that's how we ended up with the Radar, the Volunteer Worker, the Cowboy, the Trucker, and the Doody Bird. |
