I got one of these second-hand from a friend. The only other HP I have is an FEG PJK-9HP where I removed the magazine safety and that one has a GREAT trigger. This MC P35 Match has a flat trigger and man, it's crappy. The pull is mediocre at best and the reset is horribly long. Did I get a bad gun, or are they all this bad? |

| The High Power trigger is quite different than a 1911 in feel and reset. The trigger on my Grisan MC P35 has improved with use but is not near as good as my RIA 1911 A1 FS 9 mm I bought at about the same time. Supposedly BH Springs Solutions sell parts that will improve the reset on a High Power but I have no first hand experience with their products. |

I shot my Match again this week. Trigger pull didn’t seem to be bad as you are describing. I did find that with the redesigned frame some of my old mags won’t lock in as they are blocked by the added mag well material at the bottom of the frame. All the newer mags work, but some older mags didn’t. The Match ships without the magazine safety. |

I picked up a Girsan PI LW model last week to see how I liked it. I've had a bunch of Hi Powers over the years and this Girsan has features out of the box that you use to have to pay a custom pistol smith over $1000 and supply your pistol. I don't understand all of the complaints about the trigger reset on the Girsan. It is just like every other stock Hi Power that requires you to fully release the trigger. That is the nature of the design with the Hi Power. I'm pretty pleased with the trigger on my pistol but it is clearly no Timney trigger pull. It has a clean break without any creep. It could be a little lighter so I ordered a 26 pound main/hammer spring. I will probably look at the contact points on the hammer and sear when I get it apart and see if the black finish is coating them too. Without the magazine safety I think the Girsan has a pretty good out of the box Hi Power trigger. I've just got Mecgar magazines so mine all work fine. I did have two older CZ75 magazine base plates lying around so put them on the Hi Power mags. They stick out a little longer so they extend just past the lip of the front strap. If I have a malfunction and a mag gets stuck I can actually pull it out now. David |

My MC-35PI now sports the BHSS SFS Kit, and a new APEX Straight Trigger. It's just over 4lbs Pull, with a distinct Wall & Reset. Added a set of Thin Navidrex Black Grip's. It rides really nice in a Galco Slide. I've been thinking about getting the Slide cut for an RDS, but I still want to retain the Rear Sight. It's a Sweet shooter |

I have a Match Ops version with the flat trigger and its by far my least favorite trigger of my BHP family. Heavier, grittier, long reset. Honestly, the SA-35 is probably the best of the bunch so far. I need to get an Inglis to see how they compare. Attached File I love the sights and frame upgrades but I'd like to figure out how to clean up the trigger. Might be a fun project to learn, though the last time I tried pound out trigger pins didn't go so well.

There is a used SA 35 at a LGS and it has a good trigger and looks like a really good example. I just don’t want to spend $700 on another Hi Power. I have a Girsan MC P35 in black finish where I removed the magazine disconnect safety. I’ve shot a few hundred rounds through it and the trigger has improved. The MC P35 trigger is just not in the same league as a good 1911 trigger. I bought a RIA 1911 9 mm at about the same time as the Girsan MC P35. To me they are just different designs and I like them both for what they are. The trigger mechanism on the P35 is different enough especially compared to a 1911 they will just feel and perform differently. I enjoy shooting 1911’s and Hi Powers just because they are classic designs. If I had to go back to work and carry a handgun on the job it wouldn’t be with a 1911 or Hi Power. |
