Picked up this G17 at a gunshow on Saturday. Took in my old Kimber Classic Custom and came out with this, three mags, 200 rounds of ammo, and some cash in my pocket. Fair exchange IMO. I liked the Kimber, I just didn't like how frequent the maintenance schedule was and the fact that there were several things I would have to do to get it completely usable (refinish being the main thing, along with replacing all the MIMber installed parts). I wish I would had known about how Kimber cuts corners when I bought it, I would have bought a G17 years ago. I have already run around 170 rounds through the gun and I must say, I am impressed. It shoots better than I do. |

I didn't know it was an OD until I got home and ran the serial number and it came back with "Feb 2007 OD". I think the other color they make is more of a sandy color, at least in the pictures I have seen anyway. And I definitely plan on hanging on to this one. I did put a small notch in the bottom of the trigger guard to index my support hand, as well as doing a tiny bit of stippling for a support-hand thumb rest in front of the takedown lever, but other than that, the frame is entirely stock and will stay that way. I got it to shoot not to look at, so I will run the gun hard, but I do take care of my shit, and only do what is necessary. I love the damn thing so far. I am very impressed with the way it shoots and how it eats everything I can stuff in it. |

My latest acquisition is a Euroarms Rogers & Spencer .44 caliber percussion revolver, from Dixie Gun Works. It shoots nicely and handles powder fouling and spent caps really well. It's their "London Gray" finish, which I've read is a powder-coat nickel finish.  I also bought one of Dixie's loading stands. It works well.  |

I am considering a Kirst conversion with a loading gate and ejector for my Pietta 1858 Remington. This R&S is a really good shooter. Put 32 rounds through it last weekend and it handles powder fouling extremely well, better than the Colt or Remington replicas I've shot. Also, spent cap fragments fall right out instead of jamming up the works. |

A friend of mine with far more knowledge than I believes that the FTFs originate elsewhere other than the magazines but swapping mags is the easiest first step to take. Maybe a few hundred rounds through the pistol will clear things up but if they don't, I'll simply avail myself os S&Ws customer service. Overall, I am very happy with the pistol, keeping in mind that I am a first user of a brand new model. The gun looks much better in person than in the pictures, there isn't a single tool mark anywhere on the pistol either inside or outside, nor are there any in the nooks and crannies that are usually overlooked. |

I've had a grand total of 3 1911s. A Taurus that was a jam-o-matic, a Springfield loaded that ran good on ball but didn't like hps, and the SW that ate everything. It was also the most accurate. I'd say yours just needs to run a bit, then it'll be fine. Like you say, though, if not, you can take advantage of the SW customer service that's so well regarded. My new 627 revolver is one of the finest handguns I've ever owned....so I'm a fan of the stuff coming from SW these days. |

I'd like to take one of those 9mm's off your hands. a-bare you'll have to get in line. The previous owner had about $2000 in Custom Shop work (not including the base guns) done to them and i bought the pair for $1500 the Hi-cap started out as a .45ACP and the single stack started as a .38Super mil-spec. later he sent them in to get a 9mm top-end added and they were all fit to be swapped between the frames. the 9mm top-end uses a Nowlin barrel. |

Picked this one up today. Hopefully the coating lives up to the hype.
