Not sure what your hang-up with the slide catch is. I am lefty and it doesn't matter me. Berretta Nano is 16.8 oz sans slid catch. I'd like to think you could better than a Nano. Seecamps, Baby Browning's, P3AT, and other vest pocket pistols fall in around 10-13 oz with no slide catch. However there are serious compromises involved. I also have no issues carrying a 24 oz pistol, like a Glock 19 Gen 5 with ambi slide release and switchable mag release. At some point you just need mass for a shootable gun in a suitable SD caliber. |

Glock 43 and 43X (less than 18 ounces with no mag). The magazine catch is reversible and I tend to sling shot slide more often than using a slide release. When my Agency transitioned to Glock 22/23 in 2000 we were trained to cycle the slide with our weak hand as opposed to using the thumb release lever. The Sig P365 or SA Hellcat are going to be under 18 ounces unloaded. You can find lighter 380 pistol or 38 revolvers lighter but 9 mm semi auto are going to be heavier.
