I picked up an early 50's pistol and it's rough as a cobb, but I think I see some red on the eagle. This is a 23,000 SN range example. I've looked online but it's hard to find specific numbers or a date for that matter. I'm sending up the Red Eagle Signal, Rugerman! You're my only hope. |

I found that site and mine was assembled in 1951. Sturm died in mid-Nov '51 (29 yoa of hepatitis) and they stopped the red eagle sometime during the end of that year and switched to black in memorium. I used a loupe and the corners of the logo definitely has a red enamel residue. Nice. I got it because I need a beat up, toss around, plinker. Just like it was designed for originally by BR. I hope it functions well. Thanks for the assist! |
